First competition in Athens Olympia 2004/ Old Navy

Iam actually refering here to the post from Old Navy,I was somehow impressed to see that a 61 year old man gets his act together and starts competing. Something similar happened in my case. I am former weight lifter and havent touched steel/iron for may years in a serious way. In 2003 I decided to get more serious again about my sport activities, because I was working as a personal trainer. I am also an ex junior officer of the east german army and wanted to be a good example for my clients. I wanted to do something outrages and stage a show during the Olympics in Athens. Unfortunately I broke my food in January 2004 and was completed destroyed.being in hospital i decided, that nothing should stop me and as soon i came out of hospital i started swimming with an aqua protection around my plaster. 7 days swimming a week, every morning at 7.30am and back to the gym to train the upper body and my core section, abs and lower back. I finally got in shape and with a cycle and trailor i went off to Athens for the Olympics. with a german ballett master I chorographed a routine in traditional greek costume as Achilles, which I have shown in Athens everyday at Ermou and Zappeion Square. US and Greek TV and plenty of journalist came to film me, which gave mea huge moral boost and I also decided to get ready for competitions. I made a lot of mistakes with my training routine, because I was just too ambitious, working out everyday. but none the less in November I competed at the Sachsen Anhalt open in Magdeburg Germany, my home town. I placed 4th at the seniors. By the end in November I competed for the Mr. Acropolis in Athens and became Greek amateur body building champion, showing a modified routine, using the "Dance of the Knights" from Romeo and Juliet for the evening show and in the morning a posing routine using the music of Tchaikovskies first Piano concerto. I have been supported all the way by my friend Spiros Burnazos in Athens, a former European Champion in 1985. He is preparing me for the Greek amateur competition in May 2005. With will power and determination everybody can turn themselfes around, its quit significant that the older men are always a good example to the younger generation. My salutes here again to "Oldnavy" and lots of sucess to all forum members. www.ptlondon.com/athens for more information on my Athens show yours thornado [image]local://3380/5F9E67DAAC48487D8727E9889E820EC7.jpg[/image]
