Fat burning supplements - Tuesday, May 25, 2004 10:51 AM
Hi,

I am reading that forum for quite some time now.
I've started working on my muscles a month ago ( 4 times a week training + 7 day cardio run around 3-4 miles )
I'm not taking any supplements right now - I wanted to get into speed with my weight lifting. And I think that after 6-8 weeks of training I would like to kick into another gear.

More data: 6.0 , 200 lbs ( lot of body fat ). Right now I want to loose that extent of body fat. Since I've changed my lifestyle from active to ( well more corporate one ) a year ago, I went from 175 lbs to 210 ( all body fat ). I've menage to drop to 200 till now. But still fight with fat is my mail issue. I got BTFFTM book so i got the basics covered. So I'm asking about some supplements that might help me with that. There is like a million of wonder potions. Most of them are full of ^#%$. So please advice me which one to choose.

My goal is to get back to 170-175 lbs and drop down bellow 10% body fat till next summer. So I need to loose something around 30 lbs of fat ( few lbs of muscle would be good on the way ) . You are more experienced - is it possible in that frame of time ?

thanks in advance.

I've dropped from 200 to 188 in the last 14 weeks. Your goal is to drop 30 lbs in the next year? No problem.

My cutting program: (I need to save this to a file and cut and paste it by now)

1) Lift as for bulking

2) Cut 250-300 calories from my diet

3) Do an extra 10 mins or so of cardio a day

Repeat daily, adjust as necessary to drop 1 lb a week.

Not really too concerned about supplements, they're just a little icing on the hard work, solid basics cake.

I take Calcuim Pyruvate, CLA, Fish Oil, and occasionally one my remaining precious ECA pills when I need an energy boost.

Edit: Check out "Carb Cycling" by Twin Peak. I used it and started dropping weight at least twice as fast, although that's a little faster than I really wanted to.

So you're saying that its a reasonable goal for one year - thats great

One more question - what about products like Creatine and HMB ?

can you drop a link to that Carb Cycling diet ? I cant locate it on forum

thanks

Creatine and HMB are not for weight loss, however in THEORY HMB should help you spare muscle mass while you diet, but who knows. I read HMB was originally developed for livestock to make them store more fat in their meat instead of under their skin, now it claims to suppress protein breakdown. Who really knows?

A healty diet u know high protein, and moderate carbs is a good place to start as far as supplements a good combination of multivitamins will go a long way in the department of energy, i take 1 package of animal pack before every workout and it has done wonders, also i 2 was a little overweight, and have now been hitting the weights pretty hard for about 7 monts, and doing cardio a couple times a week, all in all i have lost right at 30 pounds, while adding a lot of size, so 30 pounds is a very attainable goal, good luck man.
