i am in the same boat you are in right now, but i am trying to build up more muscle while trying to also loose the bodyfat. i am taking no-xplode, to aid in building muscle. and i am now also taking thermogain. and from what i have studied up on, heard about and personally felt in just the 2 days of using it, i have to say that it is a bad a** thermogenic. and yes it was specifically designed to be used so that you wouldnt loose any of your muscle while dieting and doing a lot of cardio. but it can also help in building muscle.

Get your diet and training dialed in...

If you go low card then you will not gain muscle...so don't.

Here is basic info on diet/training/cardio etc to lose fat and gain muscle...

For Losing Fat
http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/For_Losing_Fat/m_111175/tm.htm

Thermos are primarily helpful if your training + diet is appropriate for using the fat for energy.

No explode does not build muscle...it increases blood flow..ie gives you a mean pump!
That is a good thing!

thats why i said i take no-xplode to aid in building muscle. and i know that proper diet and exercise is the key essential to loosing fat, and if you throw in working out it is just an added bonus because eventually you'll start to build muscle. hell everyone knows this, and it gets really annoying when that is the first thing somone tells me or anyone to do. if it were that simple, everyone would be in shape.

did you want to build up some muscle while loosing fat, or just loose fat, keep the muscle you have so you can see what is there and then start working out?

it only says for ages 18 and up, but that is just because a person under the age of 18 has a different immunity system and a supplement of any kind might send them into an overdrive state. if you catch my drift. but i was taking supplements since i was 15, and they never hurt me. the only bad things i have heard about was xenadryne. and that was a long time ago when there wasnt really ephedrine free supplements. and what happened was a few teens died durring athletic events. especially football. but it was from dehydration.

a lot goes into just taking supplements, when you take them, you are introducing something in your body that is un natural. even herbal products can be considered un natural. just becuase it isnt already in your body and your body may have a hard time accepting it in. so do research on what it will do to you and take all the necessary precautions. like with no-xplode, creatines, fat burners, you should drink almost a gallon of water a day to help keep the supplement running through you and this way you defenatly wont dehydrate.

another thing, you should only workout every other day, give your muscles more time to rebuild themselves. and do cardio on days where you dont workout. and stop drinking cokes, alcohol (if you even do) and get plenty of sleep. other things you could do is eat 6-8 small meals, a little bigger than your fist, every 2-3 hours. this will keep your metabolism going. and yeah thermogain is good, but it is intended for athlets. or people that are seriously active.

like i have a very physical job, and after work i come home and lift weights or do cardio. then after that i try to do something else that involves my body to be moving. so i would be considered to be more active than someone who goes to school, even if they are involved in sports. so maybe taking a different thermogenic will help you since you are in school and not able to be moving a lot. because thermogain is a very powerful thermogenic.

well any drink that is carbonated is considered a pop. most energy drinks contain everything a coke does and sometimes more of it. if you take a thermo i would try maybe hot rox, of farenheit. i have heard good things about those. but if you take them, drink only water, tea, and juice. but try to go for about a gallon of water a day. stay away from xyience xcelerate, it sucked for me. wasted 54 dollars.

i think its good for keeping muscle. basically almost any thermogenic is going to be hard on the muscles. but they do make thermos that are specifically designed to keep muscle while burning the fat. and if you are actually going to build muscle instead of just trying to keep it, and try to loose fat, then you need to find a thermo for that. i will look around for you, maybe i can find something.

yes, looked up a few thermos on the net and found that hot rox is a good thermogenic, and it does help preserve protein synthesis, which means that it will preserve muscle. it may not help build muscle while burning fat, like thermogain, but it will preserve your muscle while burning fat.

Another factor is how much bodyfat you have.  If you are over 20% there are different ways to lose fat than at 15%.  And below 10% is different still.

Depends on your goal and where you are starting and wanting to end up.

Losing fat and preserving and even gaining muscle is fairly rudimentary...

On the topic of Body fat measurement...THIS is how you will insure you are on track with whatever you want to accomplish!!!  The methods we can use to test our body fat ourself are unreliable on a one-time basis.  They are better used to track changes over time on an ongoing basis.

Test every 1-3 weeks at the same time of day...and use the same scale to take your weight.
Here is a calculator that allows you to use skinfold calipers (3 or 7 point test) or tape measure
http://www.linear-software.com/online.html

Here is the best price I have found to date for accurate and professional but good n' cheap calipers:
skinfold Calipers <--- link to place on amazon where it is cheapest

Most people make the mistake of going very-low carb, which seriously impedes the muscle gain.  Carbs are needed to burn fats and build muscle.

If you use the info at the link I posted up there and plan a diet and training for the level of calories you need ...eat that way for a week and remeasure BF%...you will see what you really need to do to lose fat and gain muscle.  Use the cardio info.  Vary training.  Get PWOs to spare muscle.

LOTS of water.

i think that is wrong. and not because it said that my lean body weight is 153.51, and i have 65.49 pounds of body fat. it because the most i ever weighed was 250 pounds at 5' 9", i went down to 180 pounds for the military. and i was probably just 5 - 10 pounds shy of being ripped. and after i got denied for the military i stopped my diet and exercise. but i kept working out, and there is no way in hell that i could weigh under 185 right now and not be ripped. i weigh 219 and am told i look to be about 185 - 190.
