Hello all....Smile

As I promised...here is a little bit info about my wedding. It was good and bad.

The good part is... IT IS FINALLY OVER! It was freakishly tiring! For all of you married people, you know what I am talking about. There were so many things that I had to do before the wedding day, one after another Smile. But other than that it was great Smile. Everything went as planned and I am a very lucky person to marry that wonderful husband of mine Smile

The bad parts are... I gained around 12 lbs within 2 weeks Smile Can you imagine that?!?!?! So I gained 1 lb a day! I was just happy that I could still fit into my wedding dress! It was also bad because my bestfriend couldn't make it to my wedding Smile She called me and she said she was sorry that she couldn't make it to my wedding. I wasn't happy but I understood Smile. Oh yeah, I got puffy a few days before the wedding day Smile I think it was water retention. It sure didn't feel good at all. I couldn't even see my ankles anymore and I couldn't fit into my wedding ring! Luckily it got a lot better on my wedding day even though I still couldn't fit into my wedding shoes, so I borrowed my mother's shoes...hahahahahahaha Smile.

So now I am going to start my exercise routine again. Hopefuly I can start tomorrow.

Today is Tuesday, February 10, 2004.
Age: 28
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 120 lbs

My goal is to lose at least 20 lbs for now. Hopefuly I can weight nomore than 100 lbs by June this year Smile

You know you should really rethink the whole Fatgirl moniker it seems terribly counter productive. Also 100 pounds seems a bit too low to be a healthy weight for your height, I would try and find out your bodyfat percentage and work on lowering that rather than going by the scale.

WOW!!!

You sound like anything BUT a Fatgirl. I agree with DWood, don't be so worried about the pounds as the fat. I would bet your body fat is fairly low already. Stressing over the weight can really be dangerous for you. I delt with this very issue with my wife when we first got together.

Good Luck

Congratulations!

Change the profile name..

Why? Because it's self-defeating. Same thing if I go to bench press and say "Man, I hope I can do this."

Looking forward to some posts Phatgirl. Smile I'm wondering if at some point you'll be on stage at some fitness USA contest?

I second that. The mind is a tricky thing, you might think that your user name is not bothering you but I would be willing to bet that it does. Don't concentrate on your weight so much as how you feel. I haven't lost a pound in over 2 weeks but I'm getting stronger and feel pretty good. The fat WILL come off, it may not come off as soon as you would like but if you set up a regular program and have a sensible diet and stick to those, your body WILL change, you WILL build musculature, you WILL feel better and you WILL look terrific.

Yeah I know what you are talking about. I heard so many times people telling me that 100 lbs is way too low for me. But the thing is, one time, a longggggggggggg time ago, I was around 100 lbs and I didn't see much different in body size. That is comparing with my current weight and body size. I've been wearing the same size clothes since then even though I weight more now. Yes, sometimes my clothes get a bit too small for me for a few days but then they fit again. I don't think that it is water weight because I drink roughly the same amount of water everyday.

Anyway, I haven't started my exercise routine yet...lol. I am one of those people who like to start things on Monday. Yes I know, the best thing is to start TODAY. But I will start sooner or later. Hopefuly sooner...Smile I will change FatGirl into something else when I reach my goal...Smile

Oh yeah, I've been trying to find out my BF% but I don't want to buy one of those things to measure it because I am BROKE....Smile I read some article before that if you tend to collect BF around your mid section your BF% tends to be higher. Is that true? My body looks slim in general except in the mid section. So when I said I gained 12 lbs it went straight into my mid section...Smile What is your suggestion for getting rid of that mid section? I did everything that I could think of. I exercised, watched what I ate/when I ate/etc but it didn't help much. Do you think it is genetic?

Yes I am worried about the pounds as the fat because it is the fat. I know that according to my height and weight I shouldn't be fat at all and it is true for some parts of my body. Not for the mid section though. My wrists are so small I can fit into a kid's watch. But my mid section is so huge and it makes me look like 5 months pregnant....lol. No, I am not imagining this.

Yes I agree that the mind is a tricky thing. But really, my user name doesn't bother me at all. I hope what you were saying is right, that my body will look terrific *crossing fingers*. Thank you for your support though. I really appreciate it. Also thank you to mda1125 and LaserX2...Smile

I would suggest that you read as many topics on this forum about fat loss and nutrition as possible, read Shera's journal. You need to dispell some of the common misconceptions about weight loss, diet and training. You cannot target fat from any specific area, your body stores fat where it wants and loses it the same way, the first place to gain fat will be the last to lose it. You need to to find out how many calories you need to maintain your current weight and reduce it a little to lose fat, you will most likely find you need to eat more. If you read many of the threads here you will find the same themes repeated time and again. To lose fat:

eat every 2-3 hours, eat slightly less than maintenance calories each day
lift weights regularly
do cardio regularly

You may be a start on Monday person, but START MONDAY and keep going.

I would recommend changing your name not for yourself... but for others. While it may not bother you, if another man or woman comes and reads this post and feels they are overweight, your screen name will do nothing to help them. Say some girl weighs 160 but she should be around 140. Seeing that you think you're fat at 120 and wanting to go down to 100 will probably bother/upset/discourage the girl that weighs 160.

Now to help you with your "weight problem," have you had your body fat tested recently? If not, I would recommend going to your doctor and having that tested. That will be the true test of how lean/fat you really are. Eyes are deceiving and although you may feel overweight... a body fat test may reveal that you are, in fact, at an unhealthy lean weight (or it could reveal that you are at a healthy weight... but you'll never know unless you get tested).

Hi Kris,

This is FatGirl, I changed my user name...Smile I didn't see it that way before. I didn't think that it was going to affect anybody else but now I know better. Thanks for letting me know Smile
