I think it depends on where you are in the cut and how much you're dropping.. Regardless if cutting, maintaining or bulking you need good fats.. just don't get carried away and you should be fine.
There is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important thing

If your body senses that it is short on dietary fat, it will not burn fat for fear of losing it's most efficient tissue, so eat the fat or store the fat. If you want to drop fat, from your body, reducing carbohydrates is the best choice. You can eat them normally during the day, but reduce them drastically in the evening hours. Carbs cause insulin spikes, and insulin spikes cause your body to go into fat storage mode....avoid the spikes....

You could eat a diet that is 60% fat, and as long as you are getting adequate protein and a small amount of carbohydrate and not going into a calorie surplus, you will lose weight. By this I mean ANY kind of natural fat. Saturated included. The lipid hypothesis is complete junk science. Look up Ancel Key's and his formation of the lipid hypothesis. Read the book Good Calories Bad Calories by Taubes, one of my favorite books ever. Low fat diets have failed miserably to make this nation any healthier.

I wouldn't see a problem as long as you get the cardio in? I eat a 1/4 cup of raw almonds everyday around 3 pm, and still lose wieght. I do my HIIT routine around 6 or 7. Also make sure any of the nuts you get are all in the natural or "raw" form, nothing processed.

Im doing a low carb, high protein, moderate fat diet. Whenever I feel the urge to eat something full of carbs in it... I just grab my trusty peanuts. I actually get the honey roasted peanuts (obviously not the BEST option), but they taste amazing and only have 6g of carbs perserving. Regular plain peanuts would be the best choice, but this way instead of gorging on cookies or something even worse, I can settle for something still within my diet restrictions. SO to answer your question, ya I wouldnt worry about fat so much during a cutting cycle. Especially if they are healthy fats...aka from nuts or fish. Worry more about carbs.

nspeed22 you know your stuff!! Kanita when you cut carbohydrates, you need to bring up calories (energy) from another source, which is fat. All the different nuts will be fine, keep it low on the sodium. Also increase your FIBER intake.

hmmmm.. I am kind of staying away from too many veggies and fruits just because of the water retention it causes. Would fiber from Oatmeal/ Ryvita suffice?

If you are worried about water retention, drink plenty of it and watch sodium intake. There is no reason to restrict fruits and vegetables.
