also along what you said about cardio being beneficial for overall wellness, of course it is, but there are substitutes obviously and i would put money on that a person who weight trains can/will be in equal cardiovascular health as a person who does cardio. That would depend on several factors but I'd be confident in guessing you'd be wrong in most circumstances. Again, the practice of an activity or function makes a person more efficient at it. It's why people "train". It's why "training" is so called. Your analogy that you want to see a bodybuilder run a marathon is moot, well i want to see a marathon runner bench 300... get my point? No. The marathon runner has nothing to gain from moving large amounts of weight. There's no connection between strength of this nature and running. The runners goal is muscular and sketetal endurance involving workload distributed over what can break into hours. There is however a need for good cardiovascular health in weight training (who's followers usually aim for optimum full body health) to improve upon the ability to move weight more efficiently and the aforementioned benefit of nutrient shuttling. You can go above and beyond or you can sit at the level of fitness that's required for your activity being unprepared for anything new which demands more. The act of doing more than necessary is overcompensation - the very same concept you follow whilst you gain strength and size which is greater than your requirements to live.

i still would like to see twisted's plan... i probably shouldnt fuel any fires but boomer, you made a completely ignorant remark about SKs gym habits which you have no evidence for saying, and then proceeded to say something about him assuming?? I believe david already touched on that though. Then you made extra clear that you take part in competitions and he does not, but yet you have nothing to prove...Sounds like your the one that thinks theyre so badass. if i may say so you come off to me as a little uneducated...not that that is a bad thing but you seem to think you know whats up with everything. First with the supplements and now this. Your reason for cardio's importance is that other bodybuilders do it? Seems your reading too many magazines.

ORIGINAL: TheSilverFox still... for you to tell an EXTREME ectomorph to just "eat more"... unless you are one, you have NO idea how hard that is. With all due respect that's exactly what you need to do. The difficulty of the eating is irrelevant. "Ectomorph" is a catagoristic ready made excuse. You don't share a bodytype with billions of other people. The actual belief in the somatotype system can actual hinder your potential within a mental capacity. There's countless different factors involved in the make up of your individual body in comparison to the next person who chooses to share the same title. 6-8 solid meals is the norm. It's nothing out of the ordinary. Buy some maltodextrin from a no frills supplement supplier or a brewery. It's the most comfortable way to add extra calories (derviving from complex carbs) to your diet since it's generally unfilling with only a slight sweet taste.

If you eat more, you'll condition your stomach to comfortably take more. You'll eventually reach a level where eating overall is reasonable comfortable and in most cases enjoyable.

ORIGINAL: David1991 ORIGINAL: boomersooner1331 bodybuilding. 99 % of bodybuilders incorporate cardio into their workout. especially while cutting. oh really, 99%? i guess i missed that survey thats not true at all. there are some bodybuilders who dont do any cardio even when cutting, until the very last stages of the cut. many do none at all when bulking. i've read logs of bodybuilders and i've talked with and heard interviews with bodybuilders. many have cardio all year long, some dont. and ur avoiding my question: why do u think cardio is so great that anyone who's serious needs to do it?? do you not read well? cardio is necessary when cutting during comp season

ORIGINAL: RedJeep ORIGINAL: boomersooner1331 ORIGINAL: Soccerking3000 ignorance isnt an insult unless you refuse to change, which obviously you wont, so yea i guess i did insult you. I just can't fathom how you don't see your comments as rude or insulting, i still think you believe you have something to prove, maybe thats why you lift, to prove to something to someone, somewhere. Like i said you dont realize it so i'll go with the ignorant comment again, ignorance is bliss to be honest with you, i truly don't feel like i need to prove anything to anyone. i'm completely happy right now. i used to be the fat kid in middle school. i've completely changed, done a complete 180. i've done what i've wanted to do, now i'm trying to take it to the next level. i'll be competing in my first comp this summer, and thatts what i want to do. i have no want or need to prove anything to anyone. i do this for myself, just as you do You need to calm down. I just want to know why you think cardio is essential to bodybuilding. The only reason that cardio would be completely neccessary is if your trying to cut fat. Doing cardio does not build you more muscle, I dont understand why you are arguing that you have to do cardio. Maybe when you were "the fat kid in middle school" the only way you could slim down and get to where you are now was to do cardio but I dont need to do cardio to stay lean. You shouldnt generalize or make false statements. I am in no way saying cardio isnt benificial because it is, but it is not essential to bodybulding. that is what i'm saying i would love to see one of you go into a competition without cardio

(if that is the "uneducated" you are talking about. if you're talking about academics, you are incorrect). I do not view myself as a "hardass", and i say that in all honesty. I don't view myself any different than anyone else. we all lift weights, and we all want to get bigger. my reason for cardio being a neccessity is you can't go into a comp without doing any cardio. you will look horrible, and the judges will think so too. that's simple

You completely misunderstand the concept of energy consumption vs expenditure.
