What is better to do when lifting? Fast, explosive reps..... Or Slow, controlled reps?

slow going down
and fast going up
example: for bench press
take like 3 seconds to bring the weight to ur chest, then explode the weight up as fast as u can

do this for all ur lifts
youll gain alot more strength
