This bulking competition is a sequel to 8pack's competition which he organized back in july. I've decided to make another competition that will have 1 week for people to register and approximately 3 months of bulking. Here's the details: Registration week: September 24th - 30th To register, simply post in this thread (one is located in DB Contests & Competitions, as well as Teenage Bodybuilding) with the following information: 1) Age (18 or under, sorry ) 2) Height 3) Weight (If you are able to get BF %, that would be great!) 4) PICTURES - This was a problem with the last competition. Even though a few people took pictures, they were kind of useless in terms of properly showing they're whole physique. For this competition, you will need 5 pictures. Here there are: Front double bicep, Rear double bicep, Side chest, Legs, Back. If you wanna include more, then go ahead. All pics should be taken flexed. 5) Record the weights you lift normally (6-8 reps) and then compare them with your new ones when the contest closes. It can be quite suprising :) Rules 1) No steroids, pro-hormones, GH, etc. (duh ) 2) Pics are a must, if it's such a big problem, try and get AT LEAST 2-3 good pictures. 3) Don't reveal your stats until the end of the contest. It should be a surprise. 4) Have fun and stay motivated. Even if you don't win the competition you'll still have, quote poncho: "extra muscle mass as a nice christmas present" Bulking Phase Start: October 1st, 2004 End: December 30th, 2004 Reminder: December 20th I will remind everyone to let them know that the date is approaching and they should try to collect all their data. That's it! Start registering.

Just step up and take a few pictures, what's the big deal. Is there some kind of confidence issue here with posting a few pics? Blotch out your face if necessary. Plus, I said if you can't get all the pics, just 2-3 pics of your choice. I only went through with the pictures just so we can actually see who has obtained any results. A week is fine. If they are a member of the forums and browse it at least 2 times a week, I'm sure they will see this thread. Plus, if there's not enough, I can just extend the registration a bit longer. And if you're gonna join, leave a post with all your stats and such. I wanna keep the unneccessary posts down to a minimum. This isn't a big deal. If I get people to join, cool. If not, oh well. Just trying to promote a friendly competition and get more people interested.

quote:
ORIGINAL: mda1125 I find it funny that: Teens are able to hijack music at will Have cell phones call over with camera phones Have money for the stuff that matters (clothes, movies, beer) Figure out how to get ebooks using various P2P methods And yet nobody seems to be able to post a picture. Just admit that putting your pic up is not something you want to do. Or are comfortable with. Or it's weird. Or strange. Or not normal. Or gay. Or whatever. But saying that you can't find a digital camera to enter a contest if you are serious is like making an excuse why you can't call your grandma because you can't seem to find a phone to use. It's sort of hard to have a bulking contest without pictures. It's hard for everybody to vote and judge based on numbers and not a before and after. Why are the best selling weight loss supplement ads a picture of a woman/man overweight and then an after picture? Because visualization is important to certain aspects of sale. This: I'm bigger. Whatever. OR This: I'm bigger. Here's me before.. here's me after. Oh crap! Damn. Good job bro! I'm not saying these reasons are valid. And you might be telling the truth. I'm just saying it was hard for 8 pack to have like 12 competitors and 2 people who posted pictures. Solidglobe is about to have the same issue. Plenty of teens that wanna do it. But... If you post stats that's fine. It's just harder to judge. Get a disposible camera at Longs or something. You turn it in and they put your pics on a CD for cheap. Less then the cost of a crappy dinner and movie with a girl/guy who just wants to "be friends" I agree with everything you said. If you want to join a contest that is based on physical body changes, you need to get some pictures. I can't even see why anyone who's been on DB for a month or more would even want to start a contest. You wait 4 weeks, get 10 people who want to do it, 1 who submits pictures, and 7 that disappear as soon as it starts. I would think those of you in the contest would want to post your pictures to help motivate you and to have everyone compliment your changes once you're finished. All I hear when contests come around are excuses as to why you can't get your picture up. While excuses may get you through high school, they get old when you're out of high school. And when you do get a full time job, you'll find your boss hates them more then anyone. Like MDA said, if you don't want to post your pictures just step up and say it (or don't even post on these threads because you're wasting the peoples time who really do want this contest to be a success). There's no reason why you can't get pictures on here. For less then $10 you can take your pictures and put them on a CD to upload to DB. You don't need a digital camera to get your pictures on here... and it's cheaper then going to a dinner and movie (not counting if you have to pay for your date). Or hey, maybe this year at the Olympia the guys will forget their thongs and won't be able to go on stage to compete... they'll just write their stats on a piece of paper and the judges can pick the winner. I can't wait to buy my $130 ticket to see that

Thats what i've ben trying to say! And I just think a bulking competition with grown ups would work better because i think most of the grown up are more responsible than teens. And having stats without pictures would never work, because a cheater would just post some fake numbers and make everyone believe he won.

Ok well I feel like this is partialy directed toward me because only me and poncho said we may not be able to get pictures and scarface said his camera was broken so he wouldn't even be competing. I myself DID say that I WOULD try to get some pictures put on a disk for this before mda said anything about it and if NOT I would NOT take part in this contest so for you to say that we are making excuses and trying to have a competition by measurements is wrong I in no way stated that I would put up my measurements agaist some one elses pictures and try to compete. I said earlier that I would like to take part in this, only because I would like to see my progress and have fun entering a competition to see how I do, its all in good fun and again so that its perfectly clear if I can't get a before picture I WILL NOT ENTER THIS COMPETITION , I still don't have my license so I can't just drive up to wallmart and pick up a camera, I have to get my mommy or daddy to take me and they are pretty buisy everyday. Sorry to get offensive about this but I feel like you where directing your statments partialy toward me like I was going to enter with measurments only and make excuses, if this is the case I will just withdraw my entry and wait untill I have acces to another digital camera and post before and after pictures in the picture section or wait till the next competition.

It's not just this thread... it's all the previous contest threads. While you may have a good excuse or a valid reason for not posting pics, 95% of the people who post on here don't. If you read the previous contests you'll find tons of people just listing the excuses of why they can't get their pic for the contest. After you read these excuses in contest after contest it gets old . The first contest we had I gave a prize to the winner (creatine, protein, mrp, and something else I think). I also contacted BSN and BSN gave a protein shaker, t-shirt, Nitrix, and a few samples of Lean Desert Protein if I remember right. That's a pretty nice prize (retail over $200). The problem was, there were only 2 people left when the contest ended. I'd be all for supporting these contests and giving away supps to the winners... but too many people drop out and too many people don't post pics. I'm not about to give away $100 worth of product to someone who posts their chest size increases 2". I think for these contests to succedd we have to start these contests 3 months or more before it begins. This gives people time to register, get their pics together, and also finish their current bulk or cut schedual. While 3 months is a long time away, it's better this way. If you want to bulk then spend the next 3 months cutting before the contest starts. If you're already cutting then continue cutting until the contest starts. Also, I think the person who wants to start the contest should talk to a mod or an admin first. Why? Because we should have some registration rule like "If you don't post your picture along with your "I want to join" post your post will be deleted." This way, threads don't get cluttered with garbage like I'm posting right now. This way all the posts in the registration thread will be nothing but people saying I want to join and here's my pics. If we can find ways like this to keep things more oranized I'd be willing to give away supplements to the winners.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I had just felt that it was partialy directed at me for my excuse on not having a camera at the time. My appologys. I also agree with everything kris said, this is VERY short notice and unorganized, the idea should be put out in the open as kris said months in advance and should be taken up with a moderator to begin with.

Heheh, well, the rules are there. I'll give it another couple of weeks. If there are no applicants, no biggie. Either you follow the guidelines, or you don't. Please keep in mind this is just a friendly contest with no prizes. The whole point is just to start your bulking routine and have some motivation from knowing there are others like you putting in the same effort. Two weeks for registration is more than enough! If you browse the forum regularly, you'll see this thread and act on it accordingly if you want to join. I don't think any more notice or organization is required for a mediocore contest such as this. Finally, this whole thing about pictures is kind of disappointing. I'm sorry, but to judge the bulking, you gotta the pictures and various poses for each muscle group. One pic doesn't do it. Like the last contest, one person took a picture standing sideways in front of the mirror. The picture provided no information whatsoever. Ooooo! Let's see who can angle themselves in front of the mirror, flex their abs, and hide the rest of the muscularity. This looks more like a photo you would take to model your boxers. That being said, pictures are a must.
