I am going to go with 5/3/1 a little later down the road, but for now I want to stick with something I have seen solid results from before. I can't remember how I had it set up. Question: Can I have a ME exercise for the deadlift and the squat on the same day? I have read in places and it says do an exercise for one or the other, but I can't go a week without heavy deadlifts AND heavy squats. So I wanna do this Monday ME Squat triples into singles ME Deadlift triples into singles Assistance; 4 x 6-8 Tuesday ME Bench triples into singles Assistance 4 x 6-8 Thursday 50% on Week 1; 55% week 2; 60% week 3 for squats DE Squat 8 x 2 60% 1RM DE Deadlift; 6 x 1 Assistance 3 x 3-5 Friday 60% 1RM DE Bench 8 x 2 Assistance 3 x 3-5

I'm by no means a westside expert haha, but no one else is really answering this so i'll try and answer it. Your not supposed to do both of them at the same time. Most people set up a rotation of different exercises that they rotate and do cycles of them, so pick 4-6 exercises that would carry over to your squats/deadlifts and just do one each ME day, also westside almost never does just regular deadlifts squats or benching they almost always do a different variation of the lift or a relating lift, but most people don't have the resources to do that, so doing the actual lift sometimes is ok. Don't know if this helped, just trying to say what I know about westside that may help with your question. Westside can be as simple or as complicated as you make it.
Goals by end of 2009: Bench 205 Squat 255 ATG Squat Clean 185 "There is no elevator to success, you must take the stairs."

Well I was going to do ME Box Squat ME Rack Pull ME Pin Bench Press instead of the actual lifts, so I think that will work for the carryover. Anyways, you are saying one week do a ME squat exercise and another do a ME deadlift exercise? I will have to consider that, but I hate training without all of the big three in a week. I make this too complicated.

Connely gave some good advice, you can always pick up some boards and buy a set of bands to add more variation. What he said about the variations of bench deadlift and squat is correct as well. You could do squat and deadlift the same day but probably not worth it as one of them would suffer, you could also rotate speed deadlift in the week you do box squats or vice versa, honestly though I would try to squat a bit more than you deadlift, and throw some good mornings and other exercises for assitance. Don't forget things on bench day like rear delts, back and band pull aparts. I'm actually trying to figure out a way to do westside that would be geared more towards natural lifters, one thing we don't get is the chemical advantage so maybe induce it in another way through incorporating 20 rep squats, but would want it on a regular basis, so how that would work I'm not sure yet. Oh ya one more thing you can easily do triples on the speed bench. It's faster than the squat already so you won't get lactic acid build up, and pretty easy to slam them out real fast, of course if all three aren't fast enough drop weight or just do the doubles. You could alternate ME squat one week and ME deadlift the next, and have the speed day cycle in 3 waves of 2 speed squat to 1 speed deadlift, lot of people don't even do speed deadlift, but if you are serious about deadlift might be smart to do it a little bit. Like you have set up there as well some people will do both speed days same day but less sets of each like 5 of each.

Well I was just thinking about how you want to keep up with both. You could pick one as your ME exercise and do it first then move to the other and focus more on some repetitions and not have the same intensity. Like today I did squat then good mornings, good mornings are practically a deadlift already, I did upwards of 8 reps, although you could keep them fewer if you like.
