i am around 175+ lbs. 5'9 or so and i would like to get into powerlifting for a while. there are a few thing i do not understand.. one being that do you do all three lifts in a week. And also how long do your guy's workouts last, most powerlifters i see here have a very long line or sets and reps in there journals or routines. also i would like to know what split you guys use, and what works the best from your experiences.
i am constantly learning i will enter a natural bb comp i will come in a close to 200 lbs as possible i am current around 210

well, in powerlifting, the best idea is to do less reps with more weight and longer rest in between each set. This allows u to lift more weight for each set which will get u stronger. A good rep scheme is something like ([]=warm-ups) [15-12-10-8-6]-4-3-2-1...something like that. That one rep doesnt need to be a max single it can be like 90 percent of ur max. My split, that i have had for a long ass time is like this: monday-squat/legs tuesday-bench aux wednesday-biceps/forearms thursday-DL/back friday-off saturday-heavy bench sunday-off has worked for me very much. Enough rest time and everything..i really like it. U should give it a try. My average workout lasts about 2-3 hours....the auxillerie workouts last about an hour. and when u do auxilleries, the rep scehemes r different as well, u do like 6-8 reps.

and also, 2-3 hours seems like a lot, would you say that is the major difference between bodybuilding?
