Dangers: higher blood pressure mostly. I know that in a couple of the cases I heard aobut wher epeople died, they were pushing themselves really hard on a hot day, and they were dehydrated.

Keep in mind that the 155 deaths they keep screaming about occured over a ten-year perioud with tens of thousands of people taking it each year. It sounds scary, but statistically it's safer than a lot of things we do every day.

Is it worth the risk? Depends on what you want from it I guess. Personally, I take it occasionally when I need to go work out but just don't have any energy. Taking it daily for weight loss would probably be riskier, but I've known pleanty of people who've done that without any problems.

Depends on your goals and tolerance.

Risk is always personal in this sport. I agree with Powerhaus that it's a media issue. 155 people died.. far less then people who have died from taking Tylenol or other OTC drugs. But it was just some big names.. wrong time.. abuse.. and the FDA really had their eye on it for such a long time. This wasn't just something that occurred in a few months. Pro-hormones are under some similar pressure and the FDA has been on that for a very long time as well. Banned smaller versions and building up cases.

It's an herb. It has it's uses. But I've known people who feel awful on it. They simply quit. Found other methods.

Bottom line.. it's now illegal to sell (or will be very shortly). So you will be sort of forced to find other alternatives.

I'm quite sure many more people used it without side effects then those who had any bad reactions. You'll just have to determine your own risk tolerance and what you need it to do for you.

April 12th is the cuttoff date. Also, a good amount of those people also took 3 or more xenedrine like doses and then engaged in exhausting activities in hot weather...

stack the elements up....things happen.

It reminds me of the case with that major league pitcher....and the outrage that ensued. Turns out the guy had a family history of Heart problems (I think I read not only his father, but his grandfather died from heart complications), he was 20-30 lbs. fatter than the year before, was running in temperatures that exceeded 95 degree's, and TOOK 3 XENEDRINE TO BOOT! Then everyones crying out loud, "See!!! See what ephedra does to you!?"

What a joke. I really feel sorry for the guy, but damn, you can't stack the odds against you like that and expect to come out shiny.

The poor bastard probably thought, "Hey, I'm an athlete, I can handle more than the average guy, 2 for the average person? I'll take 3 then"............

I've taken ephedra off and on for about 3-4 years, so I'm very familier with it....but 2 Xenedrine is usually just a tad more than I want. I usually (whenever I want a boost on a tired day) take 1, or 1 1/2 at most.

Be careful and listen to your body.

The "Ultimate Orange" capsules were a little weaker, 3 of them were the same as 2 Xenadrine, so I'd often take 1 or 2 of the Ultimate Oranges.
