What do you guys think about enabling a rating system?

Enable post rating: Decide whether to allow users to rate the posts. An additional column and sorting option will appear in the message list interface.

I know that people like to read relevant posts but sometimes the rating system can get out of hand.

Then again, when the forum gets really crowded the rating system can bring something that would otherwise be missed, straight to the top and be given the limelight it deserves.

What do you think?

I' ve been to a few forums before and most don' t have this feature. So the new guys has to wade thru a ton of posts to get past the garbage to anything good.

I think since the moderators see it all, they can pick out the good stuff for the newbies like myself to get a head start.

Plus, somebody might have a great post and since it' s way at the bottom nobody reads it. But a rating system might change that.

Just enable it on forums that generate a lot of quality content. NO need to enable it on every single forum. Just where the good stuff might be.

As a test run..

Ratings will be enabled in the Training Forum and votes will be allowed by our registered members.

Hopefully they will do a good job of bringing the best stuff to your attention.

For those who post in that forum, keep writing and expressing your thoughts completely.

If you write a really good post, it will be recognized.

If this does not work out, and posts that aren' t stand-out material are getting high marks and really good stuff is being ignored, we will move the rating system to admins and moderators only to keep it even more tightly controlled.
