I was just wondering if anyone knows the effects of alcohol on your training. I like to have a beer or two after work or at nite and i was wondering if you had a one or two then went and did weights about an hour later, or had one or two an hour after your workout whether this would affect muscle growth? I currently drink no alcohol on my training days as im not too sure what effects it would have.

I don't know if it would affect your muscle growth at all, but alcoholic beverages are just "empty" calories. Could affect your ability to drop weight if you're trying to cut.

drinking alcohol is going to have negative effects on your body no matter how you look at it. im not sure as to HOW MUCH it actually affects your training, but it will slow your gains for sure.. and if you drink before your training make sure youre getting plenty of water as well. just my thoughts Smile

If you plan on being a heavy drinker rather than an occasional drinker down the road.

You can result in something similar that happened to a famous professional wrestler that go's by the name "razor ramon" or ofcourse scott hall

No, I just think you are mis-informed. What is so bad about smokin a J or two before a workout? You might not be able to lift as much, but hey, it helps on my form. If you can find something that makes it bad (as in worse than  alcohol or ciggarettes before a workout), then I will fall to my knees and call you master.. Until then..

weed is bad for you end of.
alcohol dehydrates the body. water is needed to build muslce as 70 percent of the body is water. thats no reason to cut out alcohol altogether, i still have around 4 to 5 cans a week. or 3 or 4 pints. if your gona go out, and get fu*ked stick to spirits like vodca etc as these have less calories.Smile

all i said was it couldnt be that bad having a little alcohol. then i made a statement that these kids show up stoned. what you infer from that statement is your problem.

also i agree with the post above. i have a friend who is now an idiot. just saying...
