Effect of calories on abs - Thursday, May 14, 2009 12:51 PM ( #1 )
I have heard that it is very important to intake lots of calories so that i can get bulky or whatever you call it. But if intake lots of calories wouldnt that allow fat to be stored ?? and do i have to do more abs excersizes to minimize the effect of the fat???

You need to review the sticky's at the top of this forum.

If you're trying to get bigger, eating more calories is part of bulking.  However, these calories should be focused on clean non-processed foods.

You may put on some amounts of fat during a bulking cycle, but typically you'd follow a bulking cycle with a cutting cycle which reduce your overall body fat.

You should under stand the links he posted, it would answer not only the question you asked, but the reason behind it... it will also answer many more questions as to why.

sit ups (that is what you meant, I believe), are not going to negate a caloric surplus... If you want to get bigger you have to have a caloric surplus... muscle and tissue aren't pulled from the ether, you have to provide calories for you body to convert in to muscle and tissue. This will add some fat to your frame, it is virtually unavoidable.

If you do some form of cardio, you can burn some of the excess, and cancel out a bit of your fat gain, if you eat clean foods, that will help as well. Since clean foods have more available nutritional content, and are not empty calories....

If you want to acquire more lean muscle mass, unfortunately you will also gain fat.

Its simply taking in less calories than your body uses throughout the day. For example, if you need 3000 calories a day to maintain weight(this is usually based on age, body type, weight and activity level) then you should prolly try to take in no more than 2500 calories a day. However these cant be just any calories. It should be made up of good foods not crap. For example lean proteins, potatos rice oatmeal, and good fats.

Alot of people also like to incorporate some sort of cardio with there weight training, to maximize the fat burning effects.
No food tastes as good as looking good Feels.
