Eating right... its easy, and effeective... - Wednesday, February 15, 2006 9:34 AM ( #1 )
Hey guys, I'm new here, this is actually my first post... I have been involved in bodybuilding and health for about 4 years now, and I am only 18. I have read a few threads that a few of you have posted, and it seems that I will really enjoy my stay here. if you'll notice, (on my sig) I used to be a little fat ass... i was only 5'6" when I weighed 284. After the doctor made me aware that I was literally eating myself to death, I kind of became motivated to do the right thing. At 14, 5'6" and about 160lbs heavier than I should be, I made a change in my diet, I cut out all soda, just coldturkey, I was up to 2 or 3 20oz Mt.Dews a day. I quit reachign for the chips, or the candy, and went for good ol' fashioned carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, and ranch instead. I went from eating large meals of 3 sandwiches with chips, soda, and candybars 4 or 5 times a day, to eating peanutbutter grilledchicken fajita wheat grain wraps with carrots and a liter of dasani 2 times a day with 3 snacks consisting of raw vegetables and fruits. at night, instead of getting up out of bed to get a midnight snack (which was usually a few slices of cold pizza, or top ramen) I would usually eat a bowl of rainbow sherbert (sp) before i went to bed. when i was 16, i had lost that extra 160 lbs. I did not excercise, i just ate right, and lost all that in a year. I saved all the money i WOULD have spent on soda, chips, and fast food, and bought a car (a 1996 Toyota MR-2) after which i still had 800 dollars left over to add to it. all in all, I went from 284lbs, at 5'6", and 14 years old; to 160 lbs, at 5'8" and 15 (close to 16 at the time) I saved up over 3800 dollars on soda and junk food (yes it adds up THAT fast) to buy a car and made myself a better person. since that time, i lost another 20 lbs, by 16, and bulked up with lean muscle mass, to where i am now at 160 again. I have made a great improvement, and it was actually easy to do... I am 18 now, and still have those same healthy habits, except for now i can eat junk, (although it doesn't taste as good anymore) and afford to pig out at a buffet if i decide to. I don't know how much weight all of you guys have lost, but if you change your life like that, it is quite an impowering feeling... those of you that have done it know what i am tlaking about... what are some other techniques you guys used? ohhyeah, i went from walking OUT OF BREATH, a 19 minute mile... to running, actually running, a 7 minute mile... my goal is to get a 6 minute 30 second mile though, and to gain about another 10 lbs of muscle mass. i am now 5'11" and healthy. sorry this is so long, i just wanted to make my mark.

The doctor told me that I wouldn't live to be older than 30 at my weight... so I lost it, and am proving him wrong.
