Do we need animal fats in us?

My dad says I shouldn't take the skin off the chicken I eat because "we need animal fats in us". Is this true? Are there any positives to these fats?

Yes, actually we do need animal fats and cholesterol. We need these to make steroid hormones... testosterone in men, estrogen in women, cortisol, and other steroid hormones the body makes. The body needs fat to make the covering for nerves, the myelin sheath. The body also needs to keep a cushion of fat around the internal organs for protection and insulation. Fat is not evil.

ORIGINAL: Minotaur Yes, actually we do need animal fats and cholesterol. -Not true. The body needs fat to make the covering for nerves, the myelin sheath. There is no scientific evidence that animal fat is needed. If you find some, let me know. We do need fats. Fats come in better, healthier forms such as avocados, nuts, seeds, different oils-olive, hemp, flax, seseme, pumpkin, coconut . . .

We need good fats, not neccesarily animal fats, which is where all the drugs we give the animals for slaughter, get stored in concentration! Fish oil is good but again mercury is a concern for some. I always suggest Udos oil, its a blend of seeds n nuts, safe and clean, not fat building but fat burning and has tons of other internal benefits......read the reasearch about it at udos.com, there are not other companies comeing out with these blends so you don't have to use Udos, I just suggest it cuz it was the only one for awhile and easiest plus they have a whole slew of research they have done.
