Do not mix pre-bed Casein w/milk? - Tuesday, September 01, 2009 4:08 PM ( #1 )
Just got my monthly raping at GNC!  Saved over $90 (buy 1 get 1 50% off, and 20% off gold card) and paid $135 for a bunch of stuff so they probably only made a halfway decent profit off me instead of a killing.

Question:  I bought some NO Casein powder for before bed.  I've read to stay away from carbs overnight.  So, that being said, should I mix the casein w/water as opposed to milk?  I'm also putting a heaping tsp of glutamine in it.  Thx!  :)

Milk has less than 15g of carbs per serving.  Unless you are on a Keto, don't sweat it.  Drink your shake however you like it.

No.  I don't think the carbs in lactose are sufficient to seriously impair GH release.  That advice is better interpreted as "don't eat a serving of rice or a big assed plate of pasta right before bed."

On the other hand, if you really want to be extreme, and you don't care about the taste, why not?

The casein actually tastes pretty good with water compared to ON's whey with water

The ON Casein vanilla (I bought a chocolate too but will try that later) in milk was delicious!  And I didn't wake up starving, so I guess it works!  :)
