What is the major difference between Casein Protein and Whey Protein. Which one is more effective and can one take both at the same time. (Switch between the two? one day casein one day whey) I have a choice to choose between Muscle Milk and ON Whey.

I agree - Whey first thing in the morning and as a post workout shake. Casein just before bed.

If you're taking casein at night and getting plenty of protein (whey and dietary) throughout the day, how much difference does it make if you start your morning off with a high protein meal instead of a whey shake? I know that the whey will digest more quickly, but presumably your body's protein supply isn't totally depleted, right?

You just went 8/9 hrs without protein,Basicly starving your muscle of proteins,So the most effective way to replenish these protein levels are with a Whey shake because of its high ingeston rate. But I see no harm in an high protein breakfast,Its just not going to to be availabel as soon.

Yep, makes sense, thanks. I'll always have a shake after a workout and oftentimes before depending on what I've eaten. For some reason (I'm not sure why) I felt like starting my morning with one would be going overboard.
