Diet When Cutting. - Wednesday, July 15, 2009 9:20 PM ( #1 )
I am as new as you can get when it comes to cutting. I understand the whole process of many meals a day. I started a week ago, but i feel very tired after the gym, not the normal like, OH Sh*t that was a sick workout tired, the omfg sleep now, tired. The last sentence says i am not eating the right things, i havent seen much progress either. If you are familiar with Cutting, please post your diets, Thanks a ton.

Steve.

It could be due to low glycogen levels, but that's generally the goal while cutting.

How many calories are you eating per day? What foods do you eat? How much are you sleeping?

I probably need to sleep more #1, why that didn't cross my mind is a mystery to me.

I haven't been eating a lot of calories, like around 1.1k a day. Currently i am 5'7" 185 pounds.

Today, for instance, i ate the following:

11:00- Can of Tuna fish
            Protein Shake

11:30- Green Tea

1:00- Half Can Tuna Fish
          Red Bell Pepper
          Green Tea

4:00- Salad w/ a light sprinkle of Sesame Seed Oil

6:30- Can Tuna Fish
         Green Tea
         Protein Shake

8:30- Chicken
          1/2 cup Rice

9:00- Green Tea

^^^ I really think that is all wrong, to much damn tuna fish HAHA.

Please crytique, im new, dont forget.

You're the same size as me, I'm cutting too. I wouldn't eat that much tuna, there is a lot of mercury in it that can make you go retarded.

I would incorporate some veggie sources - broccoli, spinach, carrots, etc. some fruits - apples, bananas, etc.. some healthy fats - peanuts, almonds, peanut butter, almond butter.

Google the keto diet.

I was reading an article on here that Rolling Stone posted about the Keto diet, looked interesting. Im going to research that more, seeing as how 2 very prominent posters have recommended it.

Now, you say fats... That is interesting to me because, isn't the point of cutting to eliminate fat from the body. So isn't that counter intuitive?

To add to this, I have heard green tea is good for the metabolism, which is obviously key to cutting. Can you verify that it is worth it?

No, fats will not provide the same glycogen levels as carbohydrates. Fats are absorbed and used much quicker and can act as appetite suppressants.

By saying fats we are referring to healthy fats - mayo, cheese, peanuts, flax seed oil,  fish oil, peanut butter, almonds, almond butter, <<< just to name a few.

Oh ok, i use mayo in my tuna if that counts hahaha. And should i put peanut butter in my whey protein shakes?

Also the green tea question still remains.

Drop the green tea, buy some green tea extract. Way more potent than tea. Take 24 hours before cardio= something like 29% fat burned in workout

The peanut butter in shake will do swell

Thanks for the reply. Now i saw some diet plans, they use Whey as an actual meal out of the six? Is that correct? If so, that would really help in planning out my diet.

Ok, so. Since i need to eat fats, should i eat these more in the morning? So that they have the full day to get worked off?

So, instead of just having a garden salad with tomatoe, for instance, i should sprinkle some shredded cheese over it?

Yup. Cheese, maybe even an olive oil based dressing.
Also, remember your protein. Add some chicken or turkey to the salad

This was todays meals, if it helps to see what i am doing.

Meal 1- Tuna Fish, mayo, greent tea
Meal 2- Salad, chicken breast, cheese
Meal 3- Sliced Turkey, cheese, almonds
Meal 4- Leftover Tuna salad( Consists of Tuna, mayo, egg whites, red bell peppers, onions)
Gym
Meal 5- Whey Protein.

Is this a good meal structure for cutting? I have basically eliminated carbs. Although the turkey has a suprising amount of carbs.

Also what constitutes as good fat? For instance, is saturated fats good? (Again new to this nutrition stuff.)

Also these are the supps im taking:

100% whey
Fish Oil
Creatine ethyl ester
Novadex (PCT) <-- i was retarted and did a PH, wont do it again, dont worry. But i cant just not do the PCT.

Alright so no creatine?

Uhm, so what are some good foods with monosaturated and poly fats? If your going to say cheese, please be more specific.

Also, just want to add.

Im doing a 5-day push/pull/leg(with abs)
then the 2 days im not in the gmy, i do 30 minutes of running. Not quite HIIT or Guerilla, just improv running.
