DiegoC's Journal - Saturday, March 21, 2009 1:12 PM ( #1 )
I've never really went to the gym hard... I used to play soccer frequently, went to college and lost a lot of my good exercise habits. When I have gone to the gym in the past, I usually stuck to leg workouts... 2 reasons for this: 1) I like leg workouts 2) I was self-concious/shy/insecure about my upper body strength... Well, it's time to face my fears... step by step going facing that.

I'm 24 years old, just joined the gym, started reading about nutrition and I weigh 140.6 lbs. I'm looking to gain muscle weight that I can use as well.

My problem in the past has been a wishy-washy state with self improvement... I have read several books but at some point I get lazy or forget the big picture. I'm trying a different approach and taking this in steps. Today should be my first day to the gym I signed up for, and to be honest, i sense a bit of the insecurity about it. I don't really know machines or anything about body building, so i'm hoping this forum can help me as a support system, and I can give value back once I reach my bodyweight goals.

Looking forward to meeting everybody here. And hello to the other new members!

Here is my goal: vision-wise

I don't know how long it will take to get there, but I plan on getting there. (hopefully by the end of this year, if possible... 9 month plan?) and then maintaining it.

but first... let's get to the gym...

Alright, so I went to the gym, not as bad as I was making it out in my head...

This training session was used more to understand how these machines worked/develop form and should not be used to determine what my max rep is. Awaiting meeting with trainer to determine how to lift weights. (Prob. Monday). Upper body seemed to be worked out during some ab machines. (Need to focus and lift with abs, maybe lower weights? ask trainer) Sidenote: I consumed a serving of creatine 45 minutes prior to workout, and 15 minutes after workout.

going to eat now, trying to increase my intake... eating cooked meat empanada's. I have to find out the nutritional value of these homecooked meals.

here is my first workout, only spent an hour there prior to closing... get there earlier next time, could have done much more of a workout.

Abdominals (Set 1): Ab Crunch Machine - 30 @ 37 lbs Abdominals (Set 2): Ab Crunch Machine - 25 @ 50 lbs Abdominals (Set 3): Ab Crunch Machine - 20 @ 90 lbs Abdominals (Set 4): Ab Crunch Machine - 8 @ 125 lbs Abdominals (Set 5): Ab Crunch Machine - 6 @ 137 lbs Abdominals (Set 6): Ab Crunch Machine - 2 @ 150 lbs

 Abdominals (Set 1): Rotary Torso - 25 @ 12 lbs Abdominals (Set 2): Rotary Torso - 20 @ 45 lbs Abdominals (Set 3): Rotary Torso - 15 @ 75 lbs Abdominals (Set 4): Rotary Torso - 15 @ 90 lbs Abdominals (Set 5): Rotary Torso - 10 @ 100 lbs Abdominals (Set 6): Rotary Torso - 8 @ 125 lbs
