Deload + Week Off
-

I think its time for me to deload so just wanted to post my plan and make sure this would work. First i'm going to take a week completely off then the next week im going to just go in and max out on bench, dead and squat; 1 day each. After that i plan to bulk and am going to hop back onto a strength routine; maybe Texas Method. Sound okay?

I usually prefer to max at the end of a program so I can rest up afterwards. Take note of how you feel after taking a week completely off. I have come to learn I lose some strength if I take off completely. so I just go twice that week at 3x5 at about 80%. let us know how it goes.

Different strokes for different folks. You need to find what works for you, and only you will know.

Just felt like bumping this to say what happened. I missed 225 on bench which wasn't even supposed to be my last attempt. Last time I couldn't do 225 was like back in last October or something like that and I got 245 at 180 in May so i'm extremely disappointed. Benching even with light weight hurt and felt awkward when it didn't feel like this before the break.

Next time try what I said and stay in the gym 2 days a week but with a light workout load. Other factors are going to matter too like sleep, stress and food. But some people do come back weaker if they take a whole week or 2 off. PumaKrieg Just felt like bumping this to say what happened. Well some people on other forums say it was all in my head but it wasn't. I read up on it a bit on another forum and was actually really excited about it after reading and was ready to give it a shot. It didn't work and im disappointed but whats done is done and I doubt i will ever fully take off again unless i have to for some reason.
