To atleast some degree yes. Someone whom powerlifts 1000lbs probably won't win too many 100yard races. You can build a body thats both muscular while still keep or increasing speed and agility, but its difficult. If you want the size of a bodybuilder you'll have to understand that it will cut into your running speed. We must all find the balance that suits us. While you can work both to some degree you'll want to pick a focus either gaining mass or improving speed/agility. Ask yourself where you want to see the greatest gains and work that area hardest. Good luck in whatever you do.

strength, power, flexibilty, endurance, speed,
is there a perfect balance?
whats effects can these components of fitness have on an all round sportsman?

Yes, you can have it all, to a certain extent. Like Ironman basically said, there's no way the world's strongest man can also be the world's fastest- But you can be both strong and fast, while still having endurance and flexibility.
Is there a perfect balance? No. Why? Because it's hard to get two people, let alone millions, to agree on what perfect would mean here- (Or when dealing with anything else, for that matter.)
The last question- No offense, but it seems a little redundant to me. The very definition of athlete hinges on these attributes, so yes, they definitely affect all round sportsmen. (When I use the term "athlete" and "sportsmen" I'm referring to people other than pro-bowler/golfer types of course.) I mean, without any components of fitness, you wouldn't be an athlete at all, would you?

Hell yeah you can have it all. I'm not sure if you're a pro wrestling fan but as a bodybuilding enthousiast you have to be familiar with it.

Eddie Guerrero. I've been a fan of his for years. He's 5'8" and 220 lbs. That's a lotta friggin' muscle and he jumps around the ring like nobody's buisness. Off the top rope. Flips. Backflips. Jumping on 7 footers shoulders from the ground. He's an ass-kicker. Fast and strong.

BigJon- and all other fans of pro wrestling out there- I sincerely apologize in advance for what I'm about to say.
Especially being lifters, we should all admire the wrestlers for the hard work they put in, and the bodies they've built. (Well, most of them anyway.) And they should also get tons of props for their stamina, agility, speed and pure guts- They're excellent athletes, and no one can take that from them. But there is one thing I have no problem taking-

No he's not. He's an actor.

And that takes away from his physical ability, how exactly?

It doesn't.

Hey! You edited! Now that makes me look stupid! Smile

This particular wrestler has been a championship wrestler on the collegiate level so I honestly have no problem saying that he's an ass kicker. Besides that he kicks ass in the gym out working other guys who take take their god given agility for granted as well as the big fat guys who use their fat-man momentum to create the appearance of raw strength. Of course I understand that you already respect the athleticism and strength that a professional wrestler owns. I just wanted to say a little bit more that I neglected in my last post.

I heard Eddie on an interview down in the Bay Area. DogHouse show.

He seems to be a really cool guy. Very excited. Very together. Has had a long history as you mention BigJon of wresting. His whole family was into it. His stories of wresting with his brothers seemed damn hardcore to me.

And at 220 lbs, lean and quick. He is a good example of having it all.

I never edited- And yeah, I bet the guy really is an ass kicker- There's no doubt in my mind he could wipe the floor with me, that's for damn sure. Except over the internet. Over the internet, I can take anyone. Smile
Don't take my post seriously, BigJon. It's just a matter of me having to be a **** whenever I hear someone mentioning pro wrestling and actual fighting a little too close together- You know what I'd really like to see? UFC with all the pro wrestlers- Real fights, no staged stuff- As a matter of fact, I remember seeing something like it a few years ago- They had boxing matches on cable between amatuers. There was like NYPD vs. NYFD and stuff like that- Then they had Pro wrestlers go up against NFL players. The Honky Tonk Man showed up as the coach for the wrestlers, and the wrestlers did put on a hell of a show- All the smack talk and flexing. Overall, the NFL players did better, but the wrestlers did have the best fighter in their ranks- Can't remember who he was for the life of me, but he was freakin' ripped.

You serious about that, CPL? That musta been 80s early 90s. I must be too young to remember. That sounds pretty sick. There're a lot of wrestlers who have a history of being shootfighters, martial artists, or collegiate wrestlers. If they ever do that again (which would be very cool) about 1/4 pros actually have very legit skills. You didn't edit? My bad. I have a habit of reading a everything all at once instead of each individual word so when there's something that pops up to me I'll then read the individual word or line and respond.

It was a cool show- But I think it was mid to late nineties. Most of the wreslters were not well known ones, which is why I can't think of their names and why you probably didn't catch it- And even though the Honky Tonk man was managing, he was old and really didn't need to be wearing that tight Elvis suit on TV again.
BTW, when someone edits, you see a message on the bottom of their posts that lets you know they edited it.
