You won't lose strength in a week if you just lay off the weights for that amount of time. It's the flu that got you- It takes a lot out of your body to fight off an illness, that's all you experienced. Even when you're totally over the illness itself, your body will still have some recovering to do. Even when you lay off the weights for a while, it's not really strength you're losing at first- It's muscle memory. You'll still have the muscle and strength needed to move the amount of weight you're used to, it's just that your body needs a pretty constant reminder when it comes to HOW to use the muscle you have to move that amount of weight. In this case, it should only take a couple of weeks to get back to where you were before the time off.

I don't think thats right that you don't lose strength first because its happened to me and several people I know when they have just been off of the weights for just a weeks.

When I got my first cold, after 12 weeks training, I stayed home so as not to make it worse. I lost 1.3 Kg / 3 lbs in that week and a little strength, but no measurable size. The strength came back after a week, but not the three pounds.

You will lose strength first, no pain- But if you re-read my post, you'll see I was pointing out that after such a short period of time, it's not real strength you're losing- The muscles are just basically out of practice, the strength is still there.
