If a weak guy is squatting 400lbs, chances are he's not doing it right either, so don't even worry about it. Find a weight you can do well, add 10lbs every week, just keep going and going and its amazing how fast it'll add up.

If a weak guy is squatting four hundred pounds with good form, then he's probably not weak after all. You might be able to outperform the same guy on the bench, but since squats use more muscle throughout the whole body than any other exercise to move a larger amount of weight, they're really a much better gauge of a person's total body strength. I've met people who might look weak, or have weak arms, but are able to squat insane amounts of weight- Definitely not weak. As Danmirage said- Don't worry about anyone else anyway. Concentrate on using a weight you can lift with proper form and without the pains you're describing, and progress from there. Before you know it, you'll have a four hundred pound squat yourself.

If it is hurting you, it means its probably too much weight and you are getting bad form trying to do that much weight... Start light... leave the pride at the door... even if you are doing the bar, or the bar and a 50 on the bar you will notice that it wont hurt as much, and slowely all those things that are hurting will get stronger, as well as you will keep your good form as you increase weight. You are probably capable of squatting more then you are right now, but you need to train all of your muscles how to do them... and you will go up fairly quickly.
