Yeah, I imagine his DL workouts were quite good. I saw a picture of him DLing 800 with no belt. But as far as i know he never has posted his routines.

but most professional bodybuilders that were any good were on roids. EVERYONE that goes tot he arnold classic or Mr Olympia are all on roids. Its accpeted inot the bodybuilding world now. Only time there not is when they have a drug tested division or its just a small little competition.

ORIGINAL: nextbigthing it's not becuz a guy is bigger than almost anyone that he takes steroids. a lot of guys take them but some of them don't take steroids I hate people that think becuz a guy is not "the average joe" he takes steroids. i'm not nieve.but franco wasn't that big so I tough maybe he wasn't on steroids well the fact that he worked out with Arnie should be enough so taht you know he's on roids. I usually tell if people are on roids by acne and hair. Or if I get to the gym and they are already sweating. I do my hour workout. Then I swim for an hour, and then I eat. Now I see them still lifting when I go back to the locker room. Which leads me to believe that monstrous gu with the acne pit of a face is juice'n it. Another good way to tell if they are on roids is by how strong they are for their size. You seem to get really big while on roids but don't weigh as much as you should. For instance I was on teh wrestling team at my school 3 of them were on juice. Our 140 lber could bench 350 and squat 500, and he looked like he was at least 170 lbs. Our 112 was on roids, he was the only guy on the team that actualy weighed what he had to without cutting. I wrestled 135 and would have to drop ten pounds for every tourney. I worked out with our 12 pounder and he outlifted me. The guy that wrestled 170 for also on juice, you would ahve serious trouble believeing he weighed less than 200 lbs. He wrestled 170 but actually only weighed 160. He lifted with our 40 lber and would add 70 lbs to the bar after he did his set. Then after the team lifted for about an hour and had wrestling practice for about 2. They would stay another hour after practice lifting. Then they would go and run with me for 30 minutes.

Now that you know he's on roids wouldn't his workout be useless to you?

I'm not saying I dont respect the guy because he was a helluva lifter and a nice guy. He's in my opinion one of the best light weight bodybuilders.

Okay, it is extremely likely that Franco did steroids. But if he did them like Arnold, it's very different than what is done today. Arnold used a dose that's about 5% of what modern juicers use, and he only used it during the period prior to competition. Plus, his doctor prescribed steroids to him. Aside from that, a lot has changed since the 70s, so I don't know that Franco's techniques are necessarily the best. I would guess that since he and Arnold were best friends and lifting partners, that Franco's worked out the same way Arnold did, so look no further than Arnold's book to get info on Franco. Here's an ESPN article on Arnold's steroid use: http://espn.go.com/columns/farrey_tom/1655597.html
