I got a power lifting competition on May 3rd. An intra-gym kinda thing. I am gonna compete for the first time. Present body weight : 76kgs.
Max bench : 70
Max Squat : 115
Deadlift : N/A . It's banned in gym so we dont have the event. :) but i have it incl in my regular routine though.
Yea i know the numbers are small considering my weight, but hell, i been seriously lifting just for 2-3 months now and i have progressed to almost double of what i started out with.
Anyways, prev competition maxes in my BW category :
Bench : 94
Squat : 93 [hehe .. :D]
Only 5-7 guys compete in my BW. So u guys can see that the competition is nothing too great. Infact i guess i can break the record and more, in about 2-3 months of normal training.
BUT I dont have that much time left.
Starting from today im preparing for it.
I tried to start off the day by doing
GVT for bench press since that seems to hold a lot of promise in developing strength fast and quick. Also i performed
isolations for
delts and
tris after benching.
But after the WO i dont feel it suits a beginner like me. Prolly an advanced lifter will benefit from it, but not sure if it will work for me.
I went through the existing threads and nothing suits my requirements since they are based on long term training (a few months at least).
What do I do? I am not worried about my diet. I pretty much have that part worked out. Im taking a load or protiens and the good fats plus adequate carbs mainly from veggies and fresh/dried fruits. Nope! i dont use supps and i do not want to even if thats gonna help me win.
I am all confused about the routine i need to do.
Shall I get back to the 5X5 training
or continue with GVT and hope that i push though the
94 kilo marker in a month? thats
24 kilos more that what i do now. And
WHAT is the
frequency with which i need to train?
i just hope im not sounding too ambitious. But i just want to give a shot at it.. does not matter if i lose.
Any help (
ASAP) would be appreciated.
