DBB challenege Aug 10-15

This will be a little more simpler and nearly all strength oriented. I think the mile time scared some of you away...lol. Anyway here goes: real simple. How many times can you deadlift your own body weight. Time limit is 3 minutes. Rules- No straps or hooks. Other then that sumo/conventional is allowed. Mixed grip is also fine. I want to encourage no belts, but if you feel you need one thats fine. Also must be done with a straight bar, no hex bars. Chalk is encouraged as well. Good luck everyone!

Are we taking people's word for it, or demanding video proof?

I don't think chalk should be allowed, some of us don't have access to it or can't use it because of gym rules putting us at a disadvantage.

_Virtuoso_ I don't think chalk should be allowed, some of us don't have access to it or can't use it because of gym rules putting us at a disadvantage. That is retarded, buy some chalkboard chalk at the store and crush it up if you need to, it works just as well. Also, are we counting touch n go or is it dead weight each rep? 3 minutes is a long time too, seems mostly an endurance test. I'd rather do 1 minute and 1.5-2x BW

Anyone who does this is gonna realize what an actual hard workout is. 3 minutes of deadlifting is sickening. You shouldnt even need chalk for your bodyweight. Just deload it when you start getting tired cause youll have to anyway and take your hands off the bar.

Looks interesting, being lighter than alot of you guys can help now for once..To bad i'm not that much lighter than some of you guys. Repping 155 on deadlifts will be tough since I never really go above 5 reps on deads, but we'll see. I'll have to see how the finger is doing though, don't wanna mess it up worse.

Chalky Palms _Virtuoso_ I don't think chalk should be allowed, some of us don't have access to it or can't use it because of gym rules putting us at a disadvantage. That is retarded, buy some chalkboard chalk at the store and crush it up if you need to, it works just as well. Also, are we counting touch n go or is it dead weight each rep? 3 minutes is a long time too, seems mostly an endurance test. I'd rather do 1 minute and 1.5-2x BW Well I dont really think it's retarded, it's nobodys fault if their gym doesn't permit the use of chalk - pretty much excluding people from this Chalk makes a huge difference, and everyone knows that. Gloves don't have the same kind of friction and without chalk the bar still has a tendancy to slip because your hand sweats. If it makes as little difference as you guys claim then why not do it without so everyone can participate on even ground. And it's not 'just your bodyweight' you're repping, its your bodyweight for an entire 3 minutes. Just to clarify, I have weights at home, so I will be able to use chalk - I just thought we could not be d!cks about it and not use it so everyone can participate without being handicapped. Guess I was wrong.

We should do 2 separate comps, the 3 minute 100% bw one and a 1 minute 200% bw one for the strength enthusiasts.

200% is 414, I could get that once lol, actually once I pull a weight once I can usually smash some reps out, but that weight would be pushing it.

200% is a bit much for this site. I just maxed at 450 which is a little over 200% for me. heh. The whole idea around doing your Bodyweight is to include as many members as possible. 3 minutes makes it a bit of an endurance, but strength oriented at the same time. I think people will really have to focus on form and grip as the challenge goes on for the 3 minutes. Also I dont want to say no to touch and go even though I wont be doing it, in fact I think people will wear themselves out faster that way anyway.

150 sounds a little better if it is for a whole minute. I'd be pulling 300 if that is the case, probably could get about 20

I like the idea of these, but 3 minutes of deadlifts toasts you so much I cant really fit it into the way I workout as Im trying to stick to low volume, super heavy weight. So I dont think Ill be doing it but good luck to everyone. (This is Rollingstone on another computer, forgot to log in.)

I really like to stick to the lower weight with longer time to encourage more members to do this. especially just starting out trying to encourage people to do these things. ...apparently I made last weeks too "hard" and I was the only person who completed both...I dunno if people just didnt like it, or maybe more people are lazy then I thought :P. The point is, I want people to get into these and really make an effort not just for the competition but to be more athletically fit. There will be a separate category for this week if you want to do 150%@1 minute. for the rest its still 100% BW at 3 minutes.

Maybe I will change my mind and try this but Idk yet. Either way, Nmoney I still love this idea and im glad your leading it and making it work.

I just never got around to doing last weeks challenge. I really wanted to. I'm following the 5/3/1 right now, and that with MMA doesn't leave me with much time to do extra stuff. This, however, I can do in place of cardio after my lifting session on Wednesday. 180 lbs for as many times as I can in 3 minutes - this will be fun!

Are you guys doing these challenges as part of your routine, in addition to you regular routine, or in place of?

Ya, to me this is more of a cardio thing. This is the kind of stuff they have us do in MMA, so on Wednesday I will do this in place of the elliptical at the end of my session.
