I pulled 415 for 5 reps on Thursday.  Saturday started my first deload week since January.  So, I'll pick up with these challenges next week on Tuesday.

When I used air quotes on "hard" I didnt mean it as in hard, thats what those were for :P.

lazy maybe shouldnt have been the word I used, just perhaps some arent interested in the kind of athletic shape thing im trying to encourage.

Anyway, I just thought it would be something fun to do on the side every week to help promote not only strength but overall strength and conditioning.

Thanks though guys, hoping more people get into it and try it. We'll see!

Ya, to me this is more of a cardio thing.  This is the kind of stuff they have us do in MMA, so on Wednesday I will do this in place of the elliptical at the end of my session.

lol, no that aint cardio lol.  Youre gonna be toast for like 2-3 days after 3 minutes of deadlifting.

How about 3 minutes of power cleans - 100% body weight? I think I'd have a stroke.

i dont think people are understanding how much effort goes into three minutes of all out deadlifts.

rolling is right. it will really affect your rate of recovery. especially 3 minutes

I think I am going to go with 200lb for 3 minutes. I really want to be half dead after Friday. I am going to skip rack pulls Thursday on DE bench day.

Man, I can't wait to puke all over the floor.

I did 8 tabata intervals with 135 lbs. several times as cardio.

tabata intervals being 20 seconds on/10 seconds rest....

It was tough no doubt.  180 lbs. for 3 minutes will also be tough no doubt.  We'll see what happens.

I'd love to jump in on this. Unfortunately, I can't though. Haven't did any type of resistance training and don't even get me started on how horrible my diet has been.

Best of luck to you guys that are doing this though and that are actually consistent (unlike me) and have willpower.

I'm working with 415 on deficits today so I'll try the 150% for 1 minute after those sets.  I'll probably be gassed but if I dead lift on any other day it will **** up my routine.

I think everyone who gives this a go deserves a few beers the same night.

I'm working from home today and gave it a blast.

100% bw, 3 min - 65 reps

-------------------------------------------------------------------------- for fun...
couple mins rest

150% bw, 1 min 30 s - 20 reps

few more mins rest

200% bw, 1 min 30 s - 11 reps

couple mins rest

just under 250% bw, 1 min 30 s - 2 reps (failed 3rd twice).

A good workout. My grip really let me down though. After the first set my fingers were cramped into a fist. The olypmic bar came greased up, dont have chalk so searched the cupboards for anything and found bread crumbs. Didnt work too well so had to use straps. Therefore the 200 and 250% DLs dont count but it was worth the exercise. A f*kin awesome routine.

How the hell did you manage to shoot 65 reps ??
It's like you did 1 rep every 3 seconds consistantly...which is ....amazing !

Re:DBB challenege Aug 10-15 - Tuesday, August 11, 2009 9:12 AM ( #49 )
I do lots of snatches and cleans everyday. I am used to pulling this weight this quickly off the floor relatively safely. It could still be done quicker yet.

edit -  It does turn into a sort of cardio after 2 and a half minutes and forms start to fade. For this reason I think it would be right to warn people not used to deadlifting to go easy. Its just a bit of fun, no prize money. I dont know if 100% bw is a lot but I feel it should be said.

I'll PM you a list. Should be something in there you'll like. But do get yourself into a club! With a coach you'll go far.

Could you be so kind as to send me this list? I am interested in getting really big numbers, especially as how my cleans are horrible.

I'll post some links to routines soon. I have one on paper somewhere which is quick and simple 4 wk conditioning routine. Great for beginners to quickly ramp up to a new max. Will try to find it.

Alright I PR'ed in deficits with 415x6 and then I did the 150%bw challenge and did 21 reps of 300 in one minute.  Someone with better endurance could probably beat it (Rollingstone perhaps) considering I did my first 18 reps in 35 seconds lol
