DB Stack Specials? - Sunday, May 09, 2004 5:30 PM ( #1 )
What do you guys and gals think about offering special DB supplement stacks at Supplements 101?

What I mean is... what if we offered something like:

DB Get Big Stack:
1 5lb Metabolic Whey (Whey Protein) by MRM
1 2.5lb NitroSyn (Blended Protein) by iForce
1 V12 (Creatine / NO2) by SAN
1 Lipidex (EFA, Fish oil) by SAN

DB Get Lean Stack:
1 Lipidex by SAN
1 ErgoLean (Fat Burner) by Ergopharm
1 Liquid Vitamin Plus (liquid multi-vitamin) by Utrition
1 Lean Desert Protein (blended Protein) by BSN

The stacks would only be available to DB members and we would offer them at a special discount. Good idea? Bad idea? Would you buy a stack? Also, what stacks would you guys/gals like to see if we move forward with this?

I like it. Most people who are new are asking about this supplement and that one and which ones are good for a particular goal. Selling a packaged bulkers or cutting stack would be a sweet idea. Get people using the right combinations from the first day. Thumbs up to that idea.

I like the idea, but tweak it a little:

DB Beginner's Stack
DB Intermediate's Stack
DB Advanced Stack
DB Get Big Stack
DB Get Lean Stack

Make it so that the buyer doesn't have to get ANY other supps, including a multi (if possible). Might want to offer customizations too. I don't know how involved you want to get with this (cuz I am sure there are a hundred other combinations floating around in my brain). Just some ideas. Definitely like the idea of having "DB Only" stacks.

Sounds like a good idea. But I'm not sure if I would spend the money on a fat burner, so I'd like a basic bodybuilder combo - with the fish oils, multi, protein - what I would consider "The Basics".

Sounds good... but what items would you include in each stack? You don't need to be product specific, but just say things like 5lb whey protein, Multi-Vitamin, Ect...

So we could have the "DB Essential Supplements Stack" which contains a multi, a fish oil, and a whey protein supplement? Or should it be a blended protein? That would cover the essentials without getting "experimental."

RE: DB Stack Specials? - Monday, May 10, 2004 4:20 AM ( #7 )
DB Beginner's Stack:
Whey Protein
Multi-Vitamin
Fish Oils/Flax Seed
Glucosamine w/ Chrondriton (maybe?)

DB Intermediate's Stack
Whey Protein
Multi-Vitamin
Fish Oils/Flax Seed
Creatine (V12)
Glutamine
Glucosamine w/ Chrondriton (maybe?)

DB Advanced Stack
AM Protein and PM Protein (Casein and whey possibly?)
Multi-Vitamin
Fish Oils/Flax Seed
Creatine (V12)
Glutamine
Zinc
Glucosamine w/ Chrondriton (maybe?)

DB Get Big Stack
AM Protein and PM Protein (Casein and whey possibly?)
Multi-Vitamin
Fish Oils/Flax Seed
Creatine (V12) or NO2
Glutamine
Zinc
Glucosamine w/ Chrondriton (maybe?)
Weight Gainer
Prohormone (maybe? I'm against this, but then again, this IS the Get BIG stack!)

DB Get Lean Stack
AM Protein and PM Protein (Casein and whey possibly?)
Multi-Vitamin
Fish Oils/Flax Seed
Creatine (V12)
Glutamine
Zinc
Glucosamine w/ Chrondriton (maybe?)
Thermo Fat Loss supplement (Xenadrine, etc.)

Basically every stack would build on top of the previous one. Include enough for a 30 day supply. I don't like the premixed Creaine and Protein because it looses some of its effectiveness when it's mixed at a factory IMHO. I'd rather do the mixing in a shaker. Anyone else is free to add or delete anything out of these suggestions.

Ditch the zinc. I'm not a ZMA fan. But Slayerboy.. nice work.

It's obvious there's a lot of beginners at DB.
Many beginners don't know where to begin when it comes to supplementation.

Putting together a 30-day package is an awesome idea!

I think something like that would sell well. I know I'd buy a get big stack or three- And then go right into a cutting phase with all the supps I'd need for that. Great idea.

Ok, after looking at what you guys offer on Supps101, I think I can make some suggestions as to what products to include:

Pure Whey Protein Stack by Champion Nutrition (Protein recommendation)
V12 with CVT by SAN (Creatine Recommendation)
Smart Blend 120 Softgels by MRM (Fish Oil Recommendation)
Glucosamine 1500mg / Chondroitin 1200mg by MRM (Glucosamine/Chondroitin Recommendation)

My only problem is with the selection of Multis. I really like Centrum Performance. Would it be possible to carry that?

If you went with the V12, you wouldn't need to include the Glutamine, cuz it's got it in there already!

Thanks for all the info and for your post above. I will be creating these this week and having them live on the site by this weekend (hopefully).

I also agree our selection of multis is limited. We just got a new liquid in today that will be up on the site shortly... but our selection is still limited.

The problem is, not a lot of supplement manufacturers carry multi's. And the other problem is, they're not too popular on our site. I figure most people get their multi's at their supermarket. If you and a few others would be willing to purchase a specific multi vitamin, I would do my best to get it in stock for you guys.

No problem, glad I could help. I think that you might want to leave the multi out of the stack then.

But if we could all agree on a multi........

What do you guys think of this layout?

http://www.supplements101.com/store/Essential_Stack_p/supessentialstack1.htm

Once we create all the stacks we will have a category under Creatine called Combo Stacks (on the left side of the screen).

Specifically, I'm looking for what you dislike about the page. Is anything unclear... should it be worded differently?

(1) I'd put it under Cool Deals
(2) Change Essential to Basics; You can go from Basic to Intermediate, to Advanced; But where to go from Essential to More Essential?
(3) Put the last part about saving.. that is a benefit.. up top. Give the customer an immediate reason to buy this. Oh.. #1 reason is I save a crap-load of money. Now what is this stack again?

I really like it! It's a very good idea. Works in conjunction with the forum. Now when somebody asks.. what supplements should I take. I'm a total newibe. We will have somewhere to start.

1.) Good Idea! It will be done.
2.) I think Essential is better then basics. Who wants to take "basic" supplements? Do you want a "basic" body? When people hear the word basic they think bland. When people hear essential they think needed . Who knows... maybe I'm wrong. If others mention the switch then I will... but I think essential is a better term to use since they are, in fact, essential supplements. There really is no advanced or intermediate stack... and I don't want to classify stacks as advanced. But maybe something like the "Supplements 101 Get Big stack." and the next step up would be the "Supplements 101 Get HUGE stack."
3.) Good idea... done!

For my two cents. . . I like the idea. One thing I dislike is trying to find/research info on a site. I allow 30 to 60 seconds then I'm gone.

One area I am wanting to learn more about is slow absorbing proteins. Fast is great but for bulking I hear much about . . . "supplying muscles with a constant stream of nutrients." I find this problematic at night. I don't like eating too late.

Also, Glutamine in a stack (Uh Oh!)? I think TP may have something to say about that supplement.

Don't make night time feeding more complicated than it need be. Casien is great, and just about anything but whey is fine as well.

Personally, I prefer a casien/milk/egg blend, so long as it has plenty of added glutamine!
