I have Heard that a few Body Builders of old would cycle thier Protein intake. Heavy lifting got 2.0g or better of Protein per body weight. Lighter lifting got 1.0g. Flushes the system for better intake on heavy days. Anyone heard of that?

The Optimum Anabolics program uses protein cycling. It claims that it makes your body more efficient at using it.

Heard a few things about cycling as well but just makes me think its ok to not be perfect all the time with protein intake. I'm pretty anal about eating enough protein though.

how much protein do you really need? I've heard 1 gram/lb of body weight some other kilogram one i dont remember and the people over at ironaddicts tout 2-3g/lb of body weight. I honestly don't think i could eat that much protein nor would i really need it but thats my opinion.

PumaKrieg how much protein do you really need? For a natural trainee - you'd need about 1.5-2g for every kilogram of weight. For example: a guy 200lbs protein intake would range form 136.5 - 182g. Anything more than that would really be converted into glucose, stored as fat or damage the kidneys. That's according to ACE (their writings are scientifically proven). For a drugged out professional bodybuilder - 2-3g for every pound of body weight probably.
