Cutting for summer, help! - Monday, June 18, 2007 12:06 AM
Before anything, I just joined this forum but I have been following it closely for tips and etc. for about 6 months.  Anyway, I currently weight 206 pds with about 16-18% body fat.  I was about about 170 pounds with about 9% body fat back in december 06.  I bulked up somewhat clean, somewhat not so clean for the past 6 months.  My goal now is to get to 8-9% body fat with as little as I can to lose weight.  Cuz I am not too crazy about losing weight, I just want to maintain my weight but bring my body fat down.  I know it aint possible for me to not lose any weight but I want to keep it on the low side as much as I can.

I have a few questions:

1) I want start working out in the morning right after I wake up.  I have two options. Option 1, I want to start jogging for 20-30 mins, lift weights, then run for another 20-30 mins, all together nothing more than 2 hours at most! Is that a good idea? Option 2, Should I just run in morning and lift weights in evening?

2) When I was bulking up, I used to take one shake before workout and 1 shake after workout!  Should I eat anything before workout now that I am cutting?  What if I choose to option 1 which run, lift weights, run or what about option 2?

3) I was on NO-EXPLODE while I was bulking up. What would you all recomand for cutting?  I feel like doing the clean way.  Just work hard, eat right including protien shake, sleep right! No creatine etc. Is that a good idea?

1.) Don't run before you lift.  You will burn up all your body's glycogen stores, so your muscle will have to, basically, feed on itself to create more for energy.  You'll end up with a higher BF%.  There are tons of cutting plans on here, do a more in depth search.

2.) You always have to eat.  The main idea is to limit your weight loss to about 1-2 pounds a week.  I don't know why you are so against losing weight?  Most people, rightfully so, are not as much concerned with overall weight loss as much as they desire fat loss specifically.  But you do have to lose weight to lose body fat, with a few exceptions.  Talk to someone more knowledgable to find out how i guess.

3.)  You have the right idea.  First of all, I'd think you wouldn't want to take creatine when you cut because of the water weight it adds, am i right here?  But, I always kind of thought that NO-Explode was pretty good for cutting because of the energy boost.  I'm not sure because I'm not too experienced.
