What are your thoughts behind Cutting Gels? To reduce the fat around your abs. Have you guys tried them? Do they work? Any brand that you can recommend?

Disclaimer: I am affiliated with a supplement compant (Avant Labs) that produced and sells competitive products.

With that disclaimer out of the way, I will cut to the chase: Cutting gel is bunk. It is a localized diuretic. So, while some report lost inches, it is temporary, and not fat.

A product that does work is a gel, that allows localized penetration of fat cells, and utilizes the active ingredient yohimbine.

There are several such products on the market, though if you do your due diligence you will find that we make the best, because our gel is the most specifically designed (1) for localized penetration, and (2) to carry yohimbine. Also, ours containes the most Y for the $, so you get more active.

How does it work? This is important to understand, as it will help you determine when and where to use the product.

Our fat cells contain various receptors: alpha 1, 2, 3, and beta 1, 2, 3. Stimulating (agonising) the beta 2 increases metabolism and fat loss. Ephedrine, for example works this way. Stimulating the a2 receptor, however is bad for fat loss. Ephedrine stimulates all the receptors. Yohimbine works the opposite, it is a selective antagonist -- targeting only the a2 receptor (this is good).

We know that thos so called subborb fat areas (you know the places where the fat won' t budge even when you are pretty lean?) have higher concentrations of a2 receptors (this is what makes them stubborn).

So, geting Y locally to those areas, shows remarkable fat reduction.

This is important -- it will not burn the fat, but only moibilie it, so you have to be on a diet for this to work, or it will just get reposited.

I am wordy, I know, but I am not done.

So, where do you use a gel such as Lipoderm-Y? Where you have that " stubborn fat" , most commonly the hips/thighs/butt for women.

What about abs? Interesting question. It would work there yes.

But recent research has shown that abdominal fat is caused due to localized cortisol, rather than more a2 receptors. Avant has just developed a product that should work very well on this.

It is a slightly different localized gel with the active ingredient of 7-keto-dhea. If real world results are half as good as the science predicts, this should be a very effective product. There are currently no competitive products on the market that I know of. It is called Ab-solve, BTW.
