Cutting Advice - Thursday, February 15, 2007 2:26 AM
I started lifting about 9 months ago and have had good gains but i still have some excess fat, if i start cutting can i expect some loss in muscle? Also some advice on the diet i should have when cutting and if i should change my lifting program and good excercises to loose the fat like running etc...?

Hi,

When cutting is done in the right way, any muscle loss should be very minimal.

Some basic advice would be:

1) Reduce the amount of calories you are consuming gradually over several weeks until you are eventually burning more than you are consuming.

2) Carry on performing the same weight routines in the gym. Lifting heavy is still the key.

3) Increase the amount of intensive cardio sessions you are performing in a week. By keeping things intensive you will up your metabolism (burning fat) without loosing muscle mass.
