Current diet is leading to fat gains

So I'm currently doing the stronglifts 5x5 3 day a week strength training program. I'm also trying to take in my basic required protein which is about 180 grams a day since I weigh 180 pounds. I seem to be gaining excess fat around my gut n lower back and I'm thinking now I may be taking in too much food including carbs for the amount of lifting I'm doing. Since its the summer and I'd rather be cut then do any significant gaining right now, should I cut back on my carbs and maybe start doing cardio in order to lose the fat? What might be a good level to keep my carb intake at considering I'm working out 3 times a week on a 5x5 program? Eventually I'm going to switch over to more of a intermediate hypertrophy routine so maybe then the protein will be a little more well dispursed.

You "seem" to be gaining excess fat? Post your body stats, full diet and get some calipers to measure your body fat so you know for sure if you're gaining or losing muscle/fat.

I always do cardio before every workout...just jump on the exercise bike for 15 minutes before every workout that gets your heart rate up. Then take shorter breaks between sets which will keep your metabolism up throughout your workout. Also, if you are a beer drinker that is always the likely culprit, dont blame the protein shakes.
