Crossfit - Monday, December 06, 2004 5:56 PM ( #1 )
I've been trying out some new routines on getting stronger and getting fit. I've done Max-OT, 5x5, lots of sets with 1-3 reps, and then I found Crossfit. I've been trying it out for a few weeks, and it's tough. Check out their workout of the day at crossfit.com. Tell me if their routine is more of a bodybuilder, power lifter, or mix of the two. I'm not sure as to what it is...

Sounds like an intense body weight program.

Many military personnel, athletes, and police personnel do not need big muscles to do the job. They need agility, endurance and strength to handle their own weight perfectly.

Gymnasts. The guys you see a ripped with big ass shoulders on the iron cross. They don't sit around doing Max-OT all day. They have muscles to handle their body weight for long periods of time. Crossfit sounds like that type of program.

You won't be doing a whole lot of gym time trying to bench 405 lbs. But you will be using your body weight and doing a lot of endurance. I think it sounds like a pretty intense program.

From what I've been doing, it has a 3 day on, 1 day off program. The 3 days seem to be split into a strength day, an endurance day, and a strength/endurance day. Today we had to do cleans with very low reps and a lot of weight.

I'm thinking about doing Crossfit until I'm outta school to help me get a scholarship for football. Once I'm outta college, unless I get picked for NFL (very unlikely), I'll start bodybuilding again. That sounds like a good plan, right? But who knows......minds change a lot.

LOL.. I had the same issue.

It seemed just too complicated to me and I didn't get the full understanding either. I figure, if a weight program is really that complex, I'll never do it.
