looks preeeeeeetty good. I am no expert on deads, but i was watching your form and it seems that you aren't dropping your butt low enough to start. it looks like you're partially morphing 2 motions together, instead of making it 1 solid movement. towards the end it seemed that you were raising your pelvis/hips, and then moved the back (2 motions) my opinion is for you to drop your butt/hips lower and that way you can keep your chest further up. try to make it 1 motion as much as possible instead of "hips up, back up"... know what i mean? your form looks pretty good though, your back is flat, which is good. i'm just being a "form nazi" i guess.. but that's what you asked for right?

From like 1:50 on the bar occasionally breaks contact with your legs. You do well in dragging it up your shins in the begging of the lift but for about a second there it comes off. The way I learned it, the bar should be in contact with the legs the entire lift, even on the way down. That could just be my personal preference though. You didn't appear to be cheating or doing anything injurious though, and my god a thick bar. What grip do you use? Double overhand or mixed? I using double overhand and I struggle to grip a regular bar on heavy sets.

Other than the very first rep, you've got your back flat, and the bar close to your shins, which are really the only two things you have to think about when doing deadlifts. With the set that starts around 2:00, you're leaning back too far at the top, but that's minor. I'm surprised you don't use more weight; It seemed like you pulled that 278 with no trouble and could do more. I assume with the overhand grip and thick bar that grip strength is the limiting factor. I know you've done some grip specialization - is that why you don't use a mixed grip?

Thanks for the replies. I should have pushed myself harder. I use a mixed grip, otherwise i couldn't hold on to it. Here is my deadlift video from yesterday. The video is shorter and put together better. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SW8h-kKjqE

your back is straight which is the most important. it looks good for the most part. I'm with fox on the 1 motion, but it is hard to do with heavy weight. You are also not a legs are stright then the back goes up either so it's not that bad.
No the leg press is not the same as doing squats.

ORIGINAL: Godzmarine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZABu2r74Yc Thanks! Look at the heavy sets. Your hips rise a bit before you start the pull. This happens because your shoulders are a bit behind the bar and not in front of it. Raise your hips a little in the starting position so your shoulder are a little in front of the bar and then start the pull. Now, when you lower it, you start bending your knees too early. The hips lower the bar to the knees and the knees lower it too the floor. Otherwise the deadlift looks good.

That second video looks good. Very good form. I agree with TheSilverFox - that thick bar looks tough. How tall are you?

ORIGINAL: Creation why do you let it touch the floor its takes the tension away from the muscle because it's called a deadlift meaning you are lifting dead weight off the ground.

touche, i do romanian deadlifts and i dont let them touch the ground. Do powerlifters always touch the ground between reps on regular deadlifts and romanion deadlifts. Cause i was told not to touch the ground.

my back doesnt round my parnter watches me. im also doing romanian deadlifts tho which are different. I do get like 1-2 inches from touching the ground, i dunno that natural bodybuilder who gave me my routine told me to do them like this so its how i do it. But i could see how doing it on normal deadlifts not touching could affect it.
