Critique based on measurements. Can't get pix from cam to computer. :(

I've taken pictures but can't figure out how to get them from the camera to the computer. Until my wife helps me with that, would measurements give you all some idea? I'm 45 years old. I'm 6'1" and weigh 193. I think my body fat is about 17%. I would say I have a triathlete's type of build. Chest 40 Waist at belt 32, at navel 35 (spare tire, I'm doing no cardio so I can put on muscle mass right now) Arms 15 Hips 40 Thighs 24 Calves 16 Neck 15 1/4 Long legs in proportion to torso, in my opinion. Would like to compete in a local contest next Spring/Summer, in Masters Over 45 and Novice classes. Any advice? I'll try to get some pix up tomorrow.

Man, just start to run, long distance, start out slow though, start swimming a lot, but when you do start swimming make sure you eat the calories or else you will lose some muscle with all this training. Also, bike. In the gym I would say to do weights. You should do light weight, with a lot of reps to get endurance for the muscle; you do not want to much, just strength. Try that out. Make sure you stretch; maybe some yoga, for the real core of the body. IMO, that is it. Oh, and eat healthy, get a good diet. Good luck! Keep us updated.

Fasha223 but when you do start swimming make sure you eat the calories or else you will lose some muscle with all this training. He won't need to make up for the lost calories, he's cutting weight. His goal is to burn more calories than he consumes, if he continues to lift heavy (preferably in the 4-6 rep range), eats loads of protein and takes BCAAs, he should be fine. Most people tend to lose muscle when they do cutting anyway, if he's eating enough protein... it's unlikely. Catabolism (muscle breakdown) occurs when your body doesn't reach it's demand for protein, so it takes it from your muscles.

Dude. You sound like me across the board, except arms -you've got an inch and a half on me there, and you're carrying about 15 lbs more body fat. Chest and hips at 40? So I'm guessing you're not sporting a crazy lat spread? That would explain the "triathlete" description... Hmmm... If you're matching me nearly 1:1 on measurements, yet you have 20 pounds on me (and the body fat % math works out to within 5 lbs...), I'm going to speculate that a good three month shred should be sufficient to get you under 10% if you bust your a-- I'm thinking you'd end up looking like the photo in my profile with 10-15% bigger arms slightly larger calves, and overall better definition. But then, I grossly underestimated what a mere 10 lbs of muscle would look like added to my frame, so I could be way off

Thanks for the input guys. My wife showed me how to upload my pictures. I'll post them in a new thread shortly. Looking forward (I think!) to your constructive comments. ;)

Crap, the pictures are in the computer, they're .jpg's, they're only about 12k each, but when I try to upload them I get some error about needing to register RadUploadProgressHandler in web.config. Anyone else ever had this problem? I'm so computer illiterate. :( I may have to have my wife help me again: She's a computer programmer.

Hooray! For some reason the pictures uploaded this time! And I didn't do anything different. Who knows! Computers are a mystery to me. My pictures are in a new thread: "Want to compete next year. Please critique." Look forward to your advice. Thanks!
