Critique New Routine - Wednesday, December 10, 2008 10:59 AM ( #1 )
I've been training for 2 years.  I recently switched from full body routine (Push/Pull) to a split.  Anyone opinions on it?

Day 1 (Chest)
3x5 Bench Press
2x6-8 Incline Press
2x10 Decline Press
3x5 Dips

Day 2 (Back)
3x5 Deadlift
3x5 Barbell Row
3x5 Pullup
2x6-8 Behind neck pulldowns

Day 3 (Shoulders/Ab's)
3x5 Standing Overhead press
26-8 Rear delt lateral raises
3x12 Hanging Leg Raises
2x50 Sit Ups

Day 4 (Arms)
3x10 Barbell Curls
2x8 Preacher Curls
3x10 Close grip bench press
3x10 Skull Crushers

Day 5 (Legs.Ab's)
3x5 Squat
3x5 Stiff-leg deadlift
3x12 Hanging Leg Raises
2x50 Sit Ups

Let me know what you think.

Looks quite good. I don't think that is enough work on legs, maybe a leg day on it's own and just do abs once a week? And maybe throw another one into shoulders like arnolds or something?
I'm doing a 5 day split atm too, I do:
  • Legs
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Shoulders
I do 4 exercises for each muscle group and 4 sets of each exercise.

I don't want big legs to be honest.  I want ab's for the summer though, which is why I have working them set.

Thanks, would you mind showing me your routine?

do you like going to the gym 5 days a week, you can maybe turn it into a shorter week like a 3 day split. Maybe put your arms with chest and back... It looks alright but you don't have really much to do on any given day except for your chest day when all 4 of your workouts are hitting the chest, so my advise would be to put em together. Maximize your time! I currently am doing a full body right now as well, i was on it for 4 months, it is now time for change, i'm going to start doing a split routine 3 days a week, still with the same mentality of compund lifts..

Mon - Chest/shoulders/tri (i'll do 4 chest workouts 2 shoulder and 1 tri iso)

Wed - Back/Bis

Fri - Legs/Abs

Let me know what you think.

+1, the good ole push/pull/legs, I think this is a lot better than the 5 day split.  For one, having an arm day is just silly, a whole day for such small muscles?
Bench- 315 Squat- 345 Dead-  515
