Creatine question - Thursday, May 13, 2004 3:49 AM
Hey guys I just bought my first Creatine supplement, its called: 'Micronised Creatine Monohydrat'.
I weigh 82 kg and am 17 years old. The bottle (powder) talks about loading and maintenance phases and by my weight recommends I take:
Week one, loading phase
4 servings per day (20 grams)

Weeks two to three, maintenenace phase
2 servings per day (10 grams)

Week four, rest phase
Nothing

Repeat cycle

I'm thinking about taking creatine for a lighter weight ie 3 servings during the load phase and 1 serving during the maintenenace phase because of my age.

Does the dosage sound correct or should I take less as stated?

Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

Btw what is the best time to take Creatine? The only times available to me are in the morning, post work out and before bed.

5g/day is enought .... post-workout for better result .... loading phase is a waste of money

I'm in alignment with these guys. 5g a day is good. Either pre or post workout. I experimented with 2.5g pre and 2.5 post. I did it all pre and I did it all post.

I noticed no differences. I just liked being on creatine period.

Anything over 10g, I start to feel the stomach discomfort.

Loading phase.. skip it. I mean you can do it.. but it's not really necessary. Just start with 5-10g a day.. and keep that up. I do about 5g a day. I notice nothing with 10g.

What about stopping every six weeks? Do you recommend this or just staying with it like daily multi's, etc?
Falling down does not constitute failure: not getting up does.

If it doesn't have any negative side effects, why would you cycle it?

Ok thanks guys, i'll drop the loading phase and start it perhaps tonight.
Powerhaus it must have something to do with your body to recover from the phase, steroids are also supposed to be taken in phases.

Your body produce some creatine but when you take a Creatine Supplements, he stop to produce. So cycle creatine is good to force your body to restart the natural production ...

The preferred method is with a glass of non-acidic juice, apple or grape usually.

That's because steroids have negative side effects.

Bit off topic here and I don't mean to offend but Steroids may have side effects.

I'm also taking a protein supplement, should I take that in the morning (10 grams) with milk and the Creatine post work out with a banana?
