Creatine & Weight Gain - Friday, February 16, 2007 11:34 AM
I was lifting three times a week and doing cardio five times a week prior to taking creatine. I've been on 5mg creatine daily and am wondering how much one can expect with weight gain (water weight)?  I was slowly dropping a few pounds before creatine but the weight is all back and I think the fat weight is back. I do try to watch my diet closely, but I'll admit, I do cheat from time to time. I like the workouts and pumps with creatine but do not like the weight gain.

Everyone is different, so it's hard to say. I gain maybe a pound or two. Honestly, I don't ever notice a difference in "Bloat" or weight gain.

I think you mean 5g, not 5mg.  If mono makes you bloat, you may want to try other forms.

The reason they can make that claim is on the label they "suggest" a loading phase of two doses a day for the first 5 days, Which with the water bloat will increase your bodyweight . I gained 8 pounds the first week on celltech HC But It was also my first week in the gym after a 6 month layoff due to injury.
Also I cleaned up my diet as well....but after the first couple of weeks my weight gain has slowed

BUT....short story long...you may gain the weight....but it will be water weight for the most part.
Current supps: Cell Tech,Superpump 250,Animal pak,ON 100% whey

Cell Tech is not good stuff all i got was a puffy water weight look dont take it i mean you will gain weight and get big but it will not look good and you will lose it as soon as you get off the best creatine i have ever taken is Vitargo CGL by Nutrex it is not as fast acting as some other creatines but it is more pure and clean and you will not get the bloated look like most creatines it is also sugar free like i said though you won't gain 7lbs in seven days but you will notice a steady increase in strength and size and you won't lose any if you stop taking it if you do decide to take it i recomend cycleing it it last like twenty days and then dont take for another twenty days and do that i couple times i think you will like the results
GOOD LUCK MAN
Weight 215lbs 12%bf
Height 6'
Arm 16.5"
Bench 315lbs
Squat 480lbs (all the way down!!!)
Deadlift 500lbs (this was my best)

When you say bloated look, do you mean when your belly sticks out real bad. After taking creatine for so many months, when i relaxed my stomach it would stick out, and it looked awful. Now ive stopped taking it im back to normal.. has anyone else had this problem,?

Other types of creatine report less h2o weight if you dont like mono.
