Nobody is arguing that people should be dangerous in the weightroom.  What they're saying is that it's entirely possible (and beneficial) for a 13 year old to lift safely.  And your experiences with certain lifters have nothing to do with the members of this board.

^ This thread has gotten to perplexities of being way past off -topic.

Their is no doubt the beneficial capabilities of working out, I never stated otherwise. When you look primarily to be hostile you see a total different point of view.

The only things I stated were that at 13 .. Maturity lacks, Knowledge lacks and unresolved egoistic characteristics are present.

Where did I splurt out a hostile comment towards an individual on this thread? I said "and at 13.. should you even be taking Creatine?" I don't believe I said "You are 13 years old.. you shouldn't be working out." And If I did.. please show me.

Now getting back on topic, do you guys find it harder to swallow Creatine in powder form? I just took two scoops of it and the top/back part of my mouth is burning. I think I am going to start taking the pill form as it is more reliable and doesn't stuff me up before my protein shake.

Lol, are you insulting doctors? No I assume you are not, haha.

Anyways 13 years old is a tad young to start lifting weights.

As for swalling the powder... wtf?  Mix it with water or juice or something.

Moodster in case you haven't paid attention to posts, Connelly is a very intelligent kids and even some of the older members learn from him. He is off to a very good start.

Second, the maturity is with any age and I'll use Connelly for an example again. I know some 25 year olds that are much more under-educated than Connelly and the 13 year old kid on here is. So that just shows maturity is not always at 13 year olds. It's the years in the gym that make you intelligent, not the years in the world.

I found that extremely funny.

As for the creatine it should be takin with some carbs which is why you can buy prepackaged creatine with carbs in it with various flavors. Personally I find creatine a lone to have a horrible taste...I buy the premix not only out of convienence but taste too :P

If you have the plain creatine I would mix it with...ah what was it dextrose?

Conventional monohydrate comes in a tasteless flavor. It's the only kind I'll take because of that and mixes perfect with Gatorade.

Just want to say, connelly has been here for a long time and there is no doubt that he has more knowledge about the sport as a whole, including training formats, supplements, nutrition and safety, than you do Moodster.

You'd be smart to listen to what he has to say, you might learn something.

Anyway, creatine is pretty much creatine. The cheap stuff will be as good as the expensive stuff, you really are paying for the brand when it comes to this supplement. The only thing to look out for is some companies use more fillers than others, but again the top brands are as likely to do this as unknown ones.

And I'd say the best way to take it is without food, just with a sugary drink. You'll get an insulin spike and the sugar and creatine will quickly be abosrbed and sent to the muscles.

Interesting that you say this, as the only prior knowledge you have is of the 150 posts on this site that I have made in the past 2 years. I have made two threads asking for opinions on different subject matters such as this one with creatine monohydrate cycling and of starting strength. Does this mean I am just starting out? No. I have been lifting weights for a while and gained most of my expertise and knowledge from Guy Bourgon who is a bodybuilder I used to workout with regularily.

This thread I created was blaintly for an opinion on the matter, have I cycled Creatine before? No I haven't, my experience with the supplement is virtually non-existant however I know everyone has different opinion on the loading phase and times to digest Creatine. Which is why I made this thread. I could of easily looked up any information I was confused by as it is the internet.. however there is not purpose as I am looking for opinions. I have been told that intaking Creatine an hour before you workout is the best time as it is in your blood stream while you lifting weights. AKA your insulin levels are spiked and combine this with blood pumping through your muscles = maximum effect.  However I know that RIGHT after you workout is also a prime time to intake Creatine as the metabolic state of your skeletal muscles is most receptive to insulin production.

I cannot have a stated opinion on this matter as yesterday was the first day I experienced Creatine.

I was considering that, I could not think of a drink that would mix well with fruit punch. I was considering fruit punch with  fruit punch.. but they are different flavors.

And Money Shot, it could be the fillers added into the supplementation. This or it could be that your training regime was different, you drank more water or you did a better job at cycling now as you have experience with it.

There are way too many possibilities to limit it to one answer.

^^THAT!

Here I was thinking, "what do you mean, it burns the back of your throat??" LOL.

Forget about creatine supps that come with their own carb delivery formulation.  Every single one of them is hype.  The idea is simple: you need the right amount of carbs to stimulate a timed insulin release, so that the creatine gets into the cells.  You can accomplish the same thing by putting it in your post-workout protein shake.

The 13 year old should not be taking any supplements.  Eat food.  Creatine mixes well with warm fluids, so if you are a coffee or tea drinker you can mix it with those.

I take creatine ethyl ester, comes in pill form. I generally find i get better results than with creatine mono. There is no loading phase. Takes about a week to kick in, generally more expensive however.

veg, what creatine you using? My wal-mart brand aint doin squat.

Haha I just bought Six Star Muscle Creatine at Walmart for 24 bucks! I wouldn't generalize the product from where it is being sold however. I find that a little bit materialistic.

What brand is your Creatine? And if you are 13 years old.. should you even be on it? lol.

There is creatine in lots of things, if you eat a 1 lb. steak, you are getting 2-3 grams of it..I don't personally use it at the moment, but this winter and spring I probably will while I am bulking for football. Also, I am not a huge beleiver in the loading phase myself, but there is some creatine cycling that seems to work good.

There are nutrients in every food. However many doctors recommend the minimum age to use Creatine Monohydrate be 18 years of age.

The company and label recommend you be 18+ years of age because they don't want some stupid kid suing them when he misuses the product.

No one recommended a 13 year old to take supplements. The thread was Moodster saying 13 year olds shouldn't workout because they are under-educated. We have quite a few 13 year olds on here that are off to a great start and I certainly disagree they aren't smart enough to train.

Regarding creatine, I take it with Gatorade during and after working out. If you fail to drink loads of water it's not going to have an affect, but it can be generally used by the creatine phosphagen system when the anaerobic glycosis falls short of it's glucose requirements.

OHH! 13 year old asked for it. I thought you guys were referring to Connelly.

Veg took care of telling him not to do it though. I'm fairly sure he'll listen.

I took it when I was 15 though, so I'd be a hypocrite if I told someone not to.

From my understanding no studies have shown creatine would harm a person under 18 if taken properly but there is no signs of it being necessary.

Don't take it while you are working out, you don't need the extra insulin spike. Just take it after the workout. You are wasting your money, creatine takes a while to digest  (1-1.5 hours) and you should only be working out 40-70minutes.

My recent workouts have been 20 minutes due to only one exercise per day with my ****ty endurance.

Needless to say I have witnessed that it wasn't being as effective, I guess that makes sense why, thanks for the tip.

I could always mix it in with my post-workout shake - banana, whey protein and milk.

Oh knoes I started an arguement haha. I can agree that supplements are very overused with younger lifters (and athletes in general) and that most 16-18 and under just need to go out and lift.

That's what I always say. Then I stop lifting and 6 months later where I imagined I would be benching 335 I'd back down to the low 200's. Don't let that happen to you, stay consistent. It's the most important thing in resistance training, anything works with consistency.

Hm, I have never had that problem. I have always been evident in my training and always had self control.

I only consider someone a "powerlifter" if they compete and them a "bodybuilder" if they compete. So I'm neither.

My primary goal is hypertrophy as of recently, I used to train more for just strength and endurance but this time around hypertrophy is my #1 focus.
