Creatine Mono - Friday, June 22, 2007 5:11 PM
Is it possible to see mass by taking only creatine mono and drinking a gal of water everyday? Of course, I would work out 3-4 days a week.

The creatine by itself will add a few pounds of weight in water, and since the extra water will be in your muscles, it'll look like muscle mass. But you won't continue to gain weight after the creatine has reached equilibrium in your body. If you want to keep adding mass, your diet must be in order.

Awesome, glad to hear. I don't have the time or energy to get my diet in order. I would need to consume 3600 + calories to gain mass and is a little hard so I'm just going to stick to the easy way :P

You won't gain mass perpetually by going on and off creatine. When you go off, you'll lose the water you gained. If your diet isn't right, you won't gain mass. Period. Even if you took all the supplements in the world, you wouldn't gain mass without a surplus of calories. Even if you took steroids, you wouldn't gain mass without a calorie surplus.

Ok, so your saying that I have to intake a huge amount of calories even while taking creatine to get water weight?

No, it's just that you get a fixed amount of water weight, a few pounds, once the creatine has reached a new equilibrium level in your body (a few weeks after you start taking it, or less if you do a loading phase.) You don't just keep gaining more and more water over time. When you go off the creatine, you'll lose the added water. If you want to gain actual muscle mass in addition to those few pounds of water, you must eat a surplus of calories. Creatine can't change that.
