Yesterday I was doing leg curls and the part of the machine that presses up against the back of your calf/ankle was probably really sweaty and laden with bacteria, and as it rubbed against my skin, I suddenly became very itchy where the contact was. I wake up today with a huge leison that looks like a bad spider bite, like a golf ball trying to emerge out of my skin. I once read that mRSA is VERY common in gyms and hospitals. The symptoms online say that the raised bump should be painful, but Im feeling an itch instead, no pain. Should I just let this pass as a normal sweat rash? I dont think its worth going to my student health office at my university, cause everytime I have went for an issue, t hey absolutely have not known what to ever do, they are idiots. God, I long for REAL health insurance again.

If you felt itchy 'upon it rubbing against you', it is probably some reaction to some cleaning chemical I guess. mRSA infection is more likely in ill people and if it could penatrate the skin or enter the bloodstream. I wouldnt hesitate to see a Doc though. It sounds quite serious from your decription of a golf ball.
