Hi all,

My names Matt, I've just turned 16, and I'm living in Wales, UK.

I'm just over 6ft 2, and skinny - there's barely any fat on me at all!  I can't tell you an exact weight, as I don't have a weighing scales, however I'll try and get my weight soon :)

Basically, I'm fed up of being skinny - with no muscle.  I want a good full body build - especially good abs (gotta love a six pack ;) )

Anyway, I have no idea about how I should train, etc.  However, I'd love to hear your recommendations.  I'm willing to put in time to achieve results.

Diet may be a problem, as I live with my parents, and basically, what they cook goes :)

I have some equipment in-house (barbell, dumbbells, and 50kg (110lbs) in weights), and therefore I'd prefer to do most of my work at home as there's no gym really nearby that I could visit daily.  (I'm 16, I can't drive).

As for what I can lift.  The max I can lift with the dumbbells like this (http://www.ast-ss.com/training/exercises/execution.asp?bp=Arm&pn=3) is 10kg (22lbs) per arm.  As for the barbell, the most I can lift like this (http://www.ast-ss.com/training/exercises/execution.asp?bp=Arm&pn=2) is 20kg (44lbs).

Let me reilliterate, I don't know what exercises are best, or how much I should train, so I really could use advise, and maybe help with setting a training regĂme for myself :)

The summers coming soon and I'd love to be in 'better' muscular shape than I am now (cardio fitness wise - I'm fine, I do a lot of sports).  I'm going on hols in 3 monthes so it will be interesting to see how much I come on by then.  Also, in 4 monthes, I will be back at school, so that will be another interesting milestone.

Not sure what else to mention,
Thanks for ANY HELP whatsoever,
Matt :)

:) im new at this sorta thing aswell if ya got any tips let me no lol.....i would recomend proteen powder and some sort of creatine powder......i bot some no2 pills over the weekend some cretaine and proteen powder over the weekend.....cost alot so i hope its worth it....anyways i would say set up a scedual and fallow it....use supplements to help out....im only 18 and new at this so dont take everything i say likes it the right thing....others would no more then me ....

If you dont got much time to spend in a gym or anything do stuff at home push ups sit ups ect its better then nothing....if you got weights thats good you can find a lot of diffront exorsises (sry spelled that wrong) to do with just dumbbells and a barbell....i got some of them theay work great when i dont got alot of time to go to a gym....but it would be important to secdual work out times because ur mussels (spelled that wrong to sry) have memory so a regular work out scedual is best...for example mon, wens, fri i do arms lift weights and such...tues thurs i do legs.....i dont got lot of time i work and go to school but an houre a day at least works....i realy recomend proteen powder if you got the money and ur realy into it then look into creatine or no2 its expensive tho so be sure you got the time to keep it up and the money  :Di hope this helps in some way....if anyons got advise let me no lol im new at this to :D

Well, I won't tell you that you wasted your money, but I will say this. The difference supplements will make does not hold a candle to the difference a proper diet will make. Therefore, I wouldn't suggest worrying about any supplements until you get your diet near-perfect.

MTB, same thing. The biggest factor for gaining mass is how much and of what quality of food you eat. Can you talk to your parents and see if they can get you certain foods in order to help you better yourself. I would think most parents would be willing to help out. If not, you're 16 - you can get a job and purchase your own food. I just wouldn't take the attitude that you have no control over what you eat, because that is the biggest factor in you getting to where you want to be physically.

Well your right about the food thing food is important. And for no2 and creatine you gotta drink a tone of water threw out the day.I'll admit i got a crappy diet and i eat very little. How ever i got a cool storey to tell you can think up ur own out come as to weather you wanna try the supplement things or not.hears my first real expeariance...

So last weekend i bot the no2 pills some proteen powder and creatine powder...never used the pills or creatine befor so im new at it.anyways i took 3 of the pills saterday afater i got them drank some water.it says theay kick in in 9 seconds or somthing but i gave it 10 mins then i droped and did 30 push ups (i do them in sets of 30) it was easyer to do them...i could feel a diffronce...not a great vaine popping diffronce but i did feel one and i was happy with it. so i tryed a serveing of creatine and it tasts like sh*t but anyways afater like 15 mins i felt "hyper" discribes it pretty good....lots of energy so then yesterday i took the pills and a serveing of creatine to work (we got a gym at work we can use) so on one of my last breaks i drank the creatine hald houre befor the break....went up to the gym poped the pills did my streches...then...

I went to the bench press its one with the pullys and cables.now befor i could manage to do my own body weight 4 times then it was to hard...so 150 pounds 4 times (i no its not alot) i normaley do 120 15 times..anyways so i put it to 150 and then i go at it feeling full of energy....boom! i managed to do 10 in a row with only a little stress...i was freggin shocked...so i did 5 more...then 5 more few later.....that alone says it was worth the 150$ it cost for the pills and powder......so i went over and used some dumb bells for a bit.....theres another thing i used hard to explaine you pull it over ur head outwords anyways i normaley do 60 pounds on it 20-25 times....i did 90 pounds 30 times and then took a break for a few mins.....sounds likea  big jump but im not kidding thats wut it did to me....i was shocked and very happy.....how ever i did it all very fast and took no real breaks...cramed it all in to 20 mins i went back to working and felt so sick in about 10 mins afater.....felt like pukeing realy bad gut feeling...anyways i think it was cuz i did it all to fast little to much and no breaks....lol anyways i fetl better afater like an houre and a half .....so thats how it went for me.....uo to you wut you wanna do......i no i need to eat more and better and i no i went to fast  so like i said its ur choice if anyones got advise let me no lol :) thanks sorry for bad spelling

Your abs should naturally show more if your skinny and do a lot of cardio, I'd advise you to do elevated press ups, pull ups etc use your weights, and eat as much fat, protein and carbs as possible just make sure there the healthy type, food shouldnt be a problem i'm sure you can at least cook something like eggs, drink more milk after a workout, even tuna and sweet corn sandwichs nuts if your a vegetarian etc I'm 15 and can't really afford supplements yet either but a healthy diet and a few basic meals every 2-3 hours will do the job.
