Combining 2 movements

I want to incorporate: 1. Power Cleans 2. Standing Overhead press In my workouts. Question is, can I combine the movements? Like do the Power clean, then do the Overhead press, then put the barbell back on the floor and repeat all over again? If yes, should this be done on Shoulders day? Legs day?

Yes, it's called a "clean and press". Only, the "press" part of it is usually done as a push press (where you use leg drive to assist with the press). It actually used to be an olympic movement. It's a great full body lift. I'd put it on shoulders day personally, but it wouldn't hurt to put on legs day if you want. Basically it doesn't matter which day you put it on because you're working your entire body.

You should combine squats and behind-the-neck overhead barbell press. Just kidding.

actually we used to do those (Drop Snatches) after doing overhead squats. Both were a pain to balance.

clean and press is a pretty cool lift, I think it shows your full body strength pretty well.

So that makes it 135 lbs... I wanted to go shake his hand.... So you can imagine what I think about your 185 I cant even push up 95 lbs right now...... To add to insult to injury... I think my form is pretty pathetic at it as well... but i just started doing it so maybe it will take a month or so to completely iron out the entire movement

And besides that one dude I saw last week... I don't remember seeing anyone ever doing it at my gym... Is this like a prehistoric movement?

The clean part is very technical and hard to get down and if you don't have good form you can easily injure yourself and a spotter really isn't much help on these other than after an accident has already occured. This is most likely why it isn't very common. A push press is pretty simple though and i see that all the time. Also wayne you most likely aren't doing a clean and jerk rather the mentioned clean and press/push press. However that's not a bad thing and if you were to do a jerk rather than a press chances are you would get much more than 185.

I love to clean and press (and I choose the push press, not military)... do them often enough... I count them a shoulder work "dominant" (even though they are rough on the whole body) because my press isn't as heavy as my clean... Helps with explosive power.

I would think most people are like this, after just a month of power cleaning I could clean 135x3 with more left in me, been pressing atleast a year and 135 would kill me.

You can power clean the bar up and either do a strict press or push press, if you were to use this technique the preferable suggestion would probably be push press, since the power clean and push press are similar in practicing explosive movement. The power clean and strict press would be a bit more difficult seeing the anterior delts can be hit pretty hard on the power clean. I think if the bar is light enough to be cleaned from the ground it should be cleaned from the ground. I don't add power cleans into my routine and this is why, I do power cleans when I OH Press. I usually make sure to dedicate 2 days per week to overhead presses (shoulder days and leg days) even when I usually do other exercise once. If I do do other exercises twice I'll do the OH Press 3X because it's the hardest movement to progress in.
