Cheated on my cut - Thursday, June 18, 2009 11:03 AM ( #1 )
Ok, so today I goofed up a little and went off my cut diet which I know feel extremely guilty for. I have been on a strict cut for 2 weeks now and busting my ass in the gym and I'm definetley starting to see results. However, I graduated high school today so my dad took me to my favorite Mexican restaurant and I ate like a pig.

I had some tortilla chips with salsa and a burrito and taco covered in cheese and refried beans.

Then I of course had a peice of my ice cream graduation cake!

My questions are, am I feeling to guilty? Will this one day set back my diet to any noticeable degree? Should I eat light tomorrow to let my body recover?

Most people have a cheat day, but you should ideally be eating especially clean while cutting, bulking you should be eating clean too - but you can have other meals like beef more often than cutting.

Just think of it as carb cycling if that makes you feel better. One cheat meal or cheat day isn't going to kill you as long as you don't go overboard.

I TRY to go two weeks before I cheat. I have this love affair with Pizza. The next morning I'll look down and see myself a little bloated. Just run a little longer and do a few extra sets as repayment. I believe you need to cheat a little once in a while or you'll go crazy one day and never return.

Congrats on the graduation! Good Job! College next?

Never feel guilty for cheating on your diet.
Always feel guilty if it does not motivate you to train harder.

Yeah, your going to need to cheat every once in awhile. It allows you to stay on track the rest of the time with your diet. When I was cutting I had about 1 cheat meal a week. You can also tinker with the rest of your diet for said day to compensate a little bit for what you chested with.

But the main point is, its natural to cheat every once in awhile, and its perfectly fine as long as you stay strict and train hard the rest of the time.

It's also good for the metabolism.

Cheating HELPS in many ways, which were all stated above already:

- increased motivation
- metabolism
- helps you stick to your diet when you know you can "cheat" occasionally
- think of it as carb cycling, seriously.
