The two routes that really burn me are the short out 5-10 yards and the short cut across the middle 5 yards at the most. Do have any drills or tips that can help me cover them better ????

these will work.. - Thursday, February 01, 2007 8:43 PM
one thing that youcould do is start on the goal line of a football field(its better to run on a field so your used to the grass) sprint to the 5 yard line and then fastly jogg back. then immediatly sprint to the 10 yard line, jog fastly to the goal line. and so one, preferably 50 yard line.Another thing is the eye-test..start on the 5 yard line, stattle it, then sprint to the 10 yard line, touch it with your hand, sprint to the goal line, touch it with your hand, and turn and sprint HARD to the 5 yard line and your done...do those connsecutivly untill you feel you'v had a good work out.   Try to not stand very high up, be low and keep your hips ready to pivot and once you pivot, blast off.

i would advise getting a friend (preferably a reciever) and having them run routes and you attempt to cover them (make sure they focus on your weaknesses).  Having a QB also will help.

You should learn to read routes and react faster.

Agility drills i'm not sure of any off the top of my head but im sure someone knows some.

what BSF is talking about.. suicides basicallly.  Those will get you in better condition (something key for DBs, you dont wanna get burnt late in the game), but they probably wont help too much in agility.

im sorry to tell you that if you are a cornerback and arent that fast your gonna have a difficult time..if you get beat you most likely will not recover..but if you were faster you could most likely recover..you have to have quick feet and get try to f**k with your man every play..ruin his game do whatever u have to

I play semi-pro safety, I can tell you that the corners I play with are the fastest human beings I've ever seen. The ones with the storngest bodies & quickest feet play the most. Which means u need to be quick AND strong. Drills we do are: Jump Squats, Suicides, Squat thrusts, T-drills, weighted vest Ladder drills, also try Backpedal 10 yds sprint forwrd 10 yds, followed by 15/15, 20/20 & 30/30 then rest

Don't let them get to the five yard line.  Anything before five yards infront of the line is yours.  Knock the receiver on his ass.
