with the wrong form yes they can and likely will damage your back, if i were you i would just get someone who you know know's the right form and have them teach it to you with just the bar.

Yes. Very seriously at that. Perfect your form and you will avoid these potential injuries.

Without correct form any exercise may lead to injury Those two are the most complex exercises, lots of joints and muscles involved, it can injure not only your back, but also your knees and ankles, cervical vertebrae, ect I'm not telling you not to do them, they are two of the best exercises. Train safe buddy, get someone who knows to teach you on correct form watch some videos on youtube, read on here, there are a lot of threads regarding correct form on these particular two
Squat max - 275lbs 30/07/09 Bench max - ¿? Front Squats(atg)- ¿?

Yes, i wouldnt recomend those for any one under 15-16 and as they said perfect form. Light weights until you get the hang of it.

you won't damage any growth plates.. PROVIDED that you progress cautiously and slowly, WITH PROPER FORM ALWAYS!!! I can't stress this enough. there's no reason you should avoid a certain lift just b/c you're growing. that's proposterous. and if you're using growth plates as an excuse, here's a little nugget for ya. your growth plates start growing from the time you're a small child (6 years old or even younger), and they CONTINUE to grow.. sometimes up to past the age of 20, so that reasoning for avoiding deadlifts seems naive. Growth plates diminish in size the more you age, and eventually stop growing somewhere near 20ish for most people. But i assure you, that even SOME 20 year olds have growth plates that are still active. I've seen it time and time again on nuclear bone scans that I do.

please dont get caught up in the numbers game, it never ends well. plus, yeah squats can FCK up your back BIG time. Look ahead, dont look up. keep your stomach and back TIGHT suck in your stomach to tighten your core. those are the 2 that seem to get everyones back (lower especially)

Tighten your core/abs...use them to stabalize your body.

Yes they can. So can throwing a baseball or driving down the road. But if done properly, it shouldn't.

Your dad is absolutly correct, you can permanatly damage your back if you dont use proper form and if your back is weak that can also cause porblem, I do lots of back excersise and by genetics, my dad has rock hard back so I have the same thing, i never have back pain or anything but I am just a very lucky , back is very very serious when it comes to damage risk.
