Can I have shrimp on a cut?

Basically my question is as the name implies, can I boil up some shrimp with a little lemon juice and pepper, mix it with some steamed broccoli and brown rice and have a good meal for a cut?

Brown rice you'd want to avoid on a cut, so would lemon juice. I'm unsure on pepper, you'd ideally want someone else to answer that. Broccoli and shrimp would be a good meal.

shrimp is high in cholesterol so i wouldnt do it everyday but its low fat and high in protein and taste good so i would do it. Lemon juice and pepper is cool to add. Why do you say stay away from brown rice on a cut, same with lemon juice(sugar maybe, i dont know it there is any in the juice haha)?

I've always acknowledged it's best to avoid grain while cutting - like brown rice. The first two weeks of my cut I had brown rice in and couldn't lose weight, I quit eating grain and switched to strictly veggies and protein and I've lost nearly 10 pounds in less than two weeks. Carbs like grain give you a lot of glycogen, minimal glycogen is what you're looking for when cutting. The lemon juice? Sugar and simple carbohydrates..

i always use brown rice on my cuts, it works for me and taste good . Strictly veggies with protein will definitely work better for losing weight though. I did figure that the lemon juice was probably sugar and simple carbs but it can also be used as a dieretic (sp?) on a cut.

Well, the container for the lemon juice says it has no sugars or carbs, however I am skeptical because every fruit I know of has natural sugars and some carbs in it. So... cut out the lemon juice? As far as the brown rice is concerened, I am not on a keto diet and I am still lifting and running, so I need some form of carbo to fuel my workouts. The cut I am looking to do is not a drastic one, I am looking to go from 10.7% body fat to 6-7% just to add that tone to my abs and muscles.

I also understand vegetables contain some carbs, I use the rice sparingly, maybe once every other day.

i'd go ahead and keep the lemon juice just because it adds a good flavor to the shrimp. I doubt it will make you gain any weight or have a hard time getting the weight off unless you are drinking the stuff religiously. Keep the brown rice as it is an excelent source of carbs and you still need the energy, plus getting all of your carbs from just veggies is hard to do.

Yeah, you'd have to down a LOT of lemon juice for it to make any difference in a cut. A bit for flavor is absolutely fine. As for the strict "no grains" advice, that's an extremely low carb diet. Such diets can be very successful, but you should probably do some research and know what you're getting into before going that low on the carbs.

I would drop the brown rice, they replenish glycogen like crazy...low glycogen when cutting is the key..unless you want a much slower cut. IMO, getting the cut over with as quickly as possible is ideal.

Well I figure gylcogen replenishment is just what I need after a workout and good run, so I'll keep it as a PWO meal.

LOOK UNDER THE INGREDIENTS LIST, SOME TIMES THEY CAN BE VERY MISLEADING AND KEEP THAT INFO IN THE INGRED LIST. oops, sorry about the caps.

Doing an extremely long cut you'd lose mass, too. The faster you'd cut the weight off the faster you could get back to bulking and re-gain the muscle through muscle memory.

Absolutely. Any answer (I have not read any responses yet) saying otherwise are crazy. That is a great meal. It may be a little low on fats but that is OK on a cut; the main focus on a cut is to make sure you are burning more calories than consuming while also taking in a decent amount of carbs and a good amount of protein and some fats. The shrimp and brown rice provide good protein and the rice and broccoli provide a good amount of carb. I don't think ANYONE has even gotten fat eating brown rice, broccolli and shrimp!! Oh and disregard things like pepper and a little lemon juice. Salt is fine as long as you are not going crazy with it.

MVP I would drop the brown rice, they replenish glycogen like crazy...low glycogen when cutting is the key..unless you want a much slower cut. IMO, getting the cut over with as quickly as possible is ideal. I disagree but people have their opinions. Eating fewer calories than your body is able to burn is key. Don't worry about glycogen and eating carbs. Calories are key. Cutting quickly does not work if you want to keep working out effectively. If you are cutting for a show that is a different story. It is possible to lose fat and build muscle at the same time. Be it a much slower process than cutting then bulking I think it is more practical and does not require extremes. The body likes equilibrium and will respond best when supplied with what it needs. Cardio, lifting and eating can be balanced to gain muscle/ and lose fat. Eating and exercise is not a day to day cycle because metabolism of food an the usage of the energy supplied by a meal takes no where near a day. It can be done hour by hour. People are quick to think that oh hey I can eat 100 calories in the morning, 200 in the afternoon and save their remaining 2000 calories or whatever for their night time meal and by only consuming 2300 calories that day they are still 500 below their allowed "calories for the day" The body does not work like that and you should not feed it like that. This should be obvious though it is not to a lot of people- Consume the most amount of calories at the start of your day and the least at night. Why would you need to eat a steak, 2 cups of rice and a piece of pie for energy while you sleep? You don't. If anything, eat like **** in the morning and eat clean at night as long as you don't lay around all day and do nothing. Calories are consumed for two reason when you are concerned with bodybuilding- to supply the body with enough energy to grow (abundance not needed) and to supply the body with energy to function an lift effectively. Sorry I have had a few beers, lol this might make sense if not I really don;t give a ****.... I'm in Miami Bitch!!!!!!!!!! Girrrrrrrrrrrrrrllllllllllll. ( BTW I made up everything I said above, furr real)

I wouldn't even try to burn fat and build muscle, slower progress and much less freedom with more complications, the bulking and cutting I like the most. I know I wouldn't have had the gains I currently have had if I would have been counting the noodles in my pasta and making sure I run "X" distance in "X" time per day and doing thing that would drive a sane man crazy. Hundreds of different ways to cut, just find the way you'll stick with the most and will stay more satisfied with. Personally, I plan on just eliminating all my carbs next week and getting this over with.

I think your meal sounds great. The whole cutting the brown rice out really just depends on if thats the kind of diet you are aiming for. You can still lose weight and eat brown rice just fine, I just wouldn't advice it right before sleeping. Lemon juice has very little sugar in it for the amount of tart flavor you get from it, won't hurt you, and like others said pepper won't hurt you either.
