Caffeine pills? - Monday, August 24, 2009 6:06 PM ( #1 )
Here's the thing, in a couple of weeks I'm going to be needing something for energy. Full time college student, full time job, still wanting to keep up with cardio and training and I'm going to be preparing for small amounts of the NSCA exam next summer.

Anyone know anything that could help with energy to do all of this? Like maybe caffeine pills? Thanks.

MVP,
I found myself taking caffeine pills once in a while in college.  I hated them.  The armpit sweat was disgusting.  And I always felt like I was one step short of going postal.  Coffee was my constant companion however.  Oh and back then Coke Classic by the truckload.  Are you a morning or a night person?  I found I couldn't absorb sh!t at night but if I could haul my a$$ out of bed at 5 in the morning I could get a lot of studying in.

edit:  So I don't get flamed:  If I had to do it over again, I'd stay away from the Coke Classic.  I seemed to have given that up over a year ago without even trying!  Just ran out of it and never bought it again.  Probably replaced the Coke with protein shakes at the time!

Theyre nice and cheap too but if you get in the habit of popping them all the time, since its so convenient, youll end up with a huge addiction and maybe adrenal burnout...

Thanks for the tips guys.

Does it say on the back what the recommended doses are? If so, is it reliable or is there a certain dose that would be better? Especially for someone that hasn't ever taken them before.

Ive heard 300mg a day is healthy.

Thats 1.5 pills.  I got addicted when I started going over that.  Now I get headaches if I dont get any for a day so Ive cut down to one pill only when I get the headache.

I'll probably try the first day at 200mg. Which would be around 1 pill? Then if that doesn't increase much energy increase it up to 300mg or so.

Do you get a good energy burst out of them? I'm a former coca-cola addict so I know all about the caffeine-deficit headaches lol.

currently im taking 600mg a day of caffeine a day in the form of pills. its worked wonders with my ephedrine but when i carb up i dont take any stimulants and i start to drag pretty hard.

unless you are doing an EC stack i would avoid them

I'm most likely going to start an ECA stack pretty soon to help with my cut.

cut the A from that. there has been proof that taking aspirin every day can actually thicken your blood. which of course is not what you want.

you can also throw in some yohimbe for an ECY stack which trumps an ECA stack imo

B vitamins and Glutamine can be good energy souces with bonuses.
Green Tea and Yerba Mate work well also.  I love the energy from Yerba.  You can make an iced Yerba without having to start with hot water too.  Make it by the jug and enjoy.

I give up caffeine cold turkey every year for Lent.  For two days it feels like a sledge hammer is being taken to my head.  Thing of it is, after that I'm fine and actully sleep much better.  Question is if that's the case, should I give it up permanently?  It's more of a crutch or vice if you will.  And it suppresses my appetite, which is not good on a bulk.  But I LOVE the taste of caffeinated coffee (black, no sugar)!
